BMS Stage 1, catted DP and intake
I have a 2012 F30 335i and I'm looking for some power upgrades for the street. I don't want go too far with them, I want to stay in the "safe" range for the engine and plan to stay with normal street fuels. I don't want to get any cels with the setup or add smells. I am thinking of going with BMS stage 1, a catted downpipe and high flow intake. I don't really need to change or increase the sound so I am not really looking at exhaust now since it seems like a less cost effect upgrade for increased torque. Please let me know your thoughts, experiences, suggested brands and any potential deals.

I have a 2013 335i m sport with bms stage 1, afe open intake, and the mpe exhaust. I did a lot of research and love the current setup. Zero cel's and zero issues. Next move for me would be a catted dp but still debating it and researching that.

Agree to Mike, Stage 1 would be the way to go.

May want to add chargepipes to that. Not for power, but for reliability. Adding boost plus the cheap stock chargepipes could easily equal disaster.

+1. I'd even go as far as saying that you should change out the charge pipe when the car is stock if you plan on driving it hard regularly.

I'd actually go against the grain with the recommendations here and say you should get JB4. It has the most features and can maximize the gains for your modifications. It also doesn't leave you blind like the Stage 1 does as the JB4 allows you to get the USB/Data cable and datalog and check codes ETC.
If you were going to leave the car stock then I'd tell you to stick with the Stage 1. Also a charge pipe is very important on a tuned vehicle as the stock one is prone to cracking. The Injen and AFE intake is the most popular followed up with the Evolution Racewerks Charge pipe and ER Catted downpipe. |

You are removing a lot more cat cells between stock and any aftermarket downpipe. So, in theory, yes you are most likely will get a CEL if your car is mapped for US emission specs.
