F8X OEM Track pads?
One of the interviews (http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=971411) posted on the forum suggests there is an OEM racing brake pad called "M Performance Sport Brake Pad"

Hi,
Details and part numbers for the front pads are here http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...99&hg=34&fg=05 Part number 34112284765 I don't know a price or any details, but ask your local dealer. I have heard rumours that they are a pagid pad, but don't know if this is true. The part number says they must be fitted with a new disc, so the dealer will insist on that if you get them fitted there. |

Real OEM lists a different brake rotor to go with the sport pads. Does anyone know if this actually makes a difference?

Guys, I wanted to update that I pursued this further with my SA and her parts counter contact in Q3 2015 and their conclusion was that this was an EU only part that couldn't be ordered through the regular BMW USA systems.
Given that difficultly in getting them (would need to get friends in Germany to buy for me and mail over) and high cost from the link I posted earlier in the thread, I decided to drop the subject and at some point will get aftermarket track pads that are more commonly available in the USA. |

Hi
I went with the M Performance Sport Pads after finding a little info out from on the site. I'm in the UK. Main reasons for choosing these pads was the fact they were available within a couple of weeks and price was cheaper than after market (RS29) pads. (I also got a little discount as my friend works at dealership) The pads are manufactured by Textar. If your to believe what is said on here, then Pagid is a subsidiary of Textar, hence the likely fact they are same compound as the RS29. Cosmetically they don't look the same, the M Performance pads are plain black with some white laser written part numbers. I can assure you pricing for both axel sets is not £761 (GBP) it's £598. As for performance of the pads they certainly out perform the standard issue. They hold up as good as any other track pads I've used on previous Porsche and GTR's. So I'd certainly say they are likely a match for the Pagid RS29. I brought the front rotors to the end of their life after 10,000 miles and 8 track days. This was a mixture of driving and also using the standard pads. 4000 with M Performance and 6000 with standard. I'd love to upgrade to a BBK and also change to adjustable entry level race coilovers but car is still under warranty etc. So for current moment I'm going to make up a DIY brake cooling ducts. This will greatly help out with the extraordinary heat which can be generated from standard system. Baz

I resume this old post to talk about OEM Sport Brake Pads: I put in them on my M4 and I’ve just driven only 150km, but I noticed that the bite has improved a lot. On the other hand, they are really noise, too much noise for a daily use! I mean at very low speed before stopping the car... Any experiences after brake-in period? |

They need a good pad transfer layer on the rotor to work optimally. The pad transfer layer will also make them quieter. You need to do a proper bedding procedure to get that transfer layer. The issue is that the transfer layer wears off with cold braking, so your pads will become noisy again after a few weeks of street driving. If you don't go to the track every second week or so, you'll have to re-bed the pads to keep them quiet. That's what I do with my Pagids.
