Spotify app

So previously, which is to say a few days ago, if I connected my iPhone 6 to the armrest USB and opened Spotify, it would then open the integrated app in iDrive. It worked fine, but I had to leave Spotify open on the phone (i.e., I couldn't minimize it or put it in the background), and I couldn't lock the phone. If I did either, it would pause the music and it would disappear from iDrive. As of this afternoon, I can do either and it keeps playing like normal and stays on the iDrive screen as it should.

This is great! I'm running iOS 8.2. Otherwise, I'm not sure what changed. Did I miss something? Not a complaint, just curious if this is the case for others.

I think that it was a BMW Apps update, as the iDrive menu for "additional apps" also changed. Now it requires BMW Apps to be opened for other apps to be selected via the iDrive. It used to be that any approved app was required to select other apps.

What I noticed for the last several weeks about Spotify in particular is that no Album Art is shown via BMW Apps. If Bluetooth Audio is selected, Spotify is selected via "External Device" USB instead of BMW Apps or the iPhone is set for WiFi instead of LTE then Album Art is shown. There was a Spotify Album Art bug related to this last year but it was supposed to have been resolved in version 2.1, but this is version 2.6.0.

I remember that update that allowed Spotify to be used in iDrive, but I don't remember any newer update since then that allows us to use the phone as normal and have Spotify stay in iDrive as is. I thought maybe I was crazy, but I replicated it this morning. I've had iOS 8.2 for about a week now, but just noticed the change yesterday. Thought maybe I missed something. For the record, I haven't had the album art issue, so I can't say.
