1200 miles service fail
So I finally take the car to the dealer for the big day: 1200 miles service. I spend all day wondering why I have not gotten a call telling me is ready. It turns out that they can't reset the service reminder. Needless to say they are keeping the car overnight to wAit for help from bmw. Anybody had this problem before?

The more important items are the actual service with oil and filter change, differential fluid change, and activation of launch control.
Don't worry...they will reset the maintenance minder which will put your next service at 10,000 miles...I would recommend an intermediate oil change though.

I had a similar issue with my E93 - for my last service the dealer had to keep it overnight to do a software update, which can take several hours to perform.

Basically all professional auto repair facilities have become completely lazy and unprofessional. And I do mean ALL. In my last job I ran a F-18 maintenance department, so I learned a little about proper maintenance practices. I'm not saying things need to be as stringent for cars as they are for Fighter jets, but these shops completely suck. No one follows a procedure. No one gives a damn about your car. Ask me about the X5 I had bought back and the 1200 mile service I had redone and the Toyota 4Runner I had back in the same shop 5 times 'til they got it right. And that's just the last 3 things I had to have done. I'm sure the next 3 will go just as badly. Yes I'm bitter about service departments these days.
