comfort access.. well worth the wait!
I Picked mine up thurs.. Having the comfort access was worth the wait. The key itself is a lot wider than my old 5500 key from 2006! But nice to not have to take the key in and out of my pocket to lock and unlock the door.

Wonder if Comfort Access is a retro fit option?

Supposedly it can be retrofitted for $1,000 for parts plus some coding.
The new key is going to cost $1,000, too. (But will work without coding or retrofitting.) And the laser lights, if they are ever approved in the US, will be over $7,000. We should have bought the Pebble Beach car!

BMW needs to do what's right for once and give us a break.....1000 bucks for a key, I will use my smart phone instead. And another CA 1000 for the retrofit, that's BMW saying that we are stupid for being early adaptors.
I may need to look at other brands down the road, not that they will treat customers any better......?! |

They will not sell me another car this way, I'll go to a different brand instead - which is a shame since I have a outstanding relationship with my dealer and I would lose and miss that. Not even sure what else to buy..

I'll take pictures of it later.. but I can't imagine it being an easy retrofit, I saw on another thread it can't be done. There's physically a piece underneath the door that would have to be cut into a non comfort access car.

For all of us that thought CA was included in the MY 2014 and were NOT consulted that it is not included prior to taking delivery, how many have reached out to BMW yet? I knew that Laser lights are not included or even an option thanks to my sales person, but this topic came out of the blue!
I just checked the owners manual and it is clearly included - not as a stand alone option! Time to make some noise?! |

CA
Malibu, who told you it can be retrofitted?
I'm so pissed I don't have it. This is supposed to be a car of the 'future', then it comes with 90's technology. Besides that it's a total pain not to have CA. Grrrrrrr |

I agree with above. I would like to know how it can be retrofitted.

The guy who lives in New York and comes to the West Coast to code BMWs told me about the retrofit.

Please do not use the highlighted words together in a sentence. It will cause a rift in the time-space continuum and possibly end the world.

Watch out for the gbelton guy. He's had more BMWs than me and, suspiciously, works in New Jersey.

So here is the scoop from the iConcierge escalation agent. The 2014 is not equipped for CA, nothing new.
What I'd like to share with the forum though is the unapologetic and arrogant tone this particular person had. The only thing he would say that 2014 i8 do not have that option and he is sorry. When I highlighted that it was not disclosed to us, he shrug it off. When I highlighted that the launch process was very uninspiring and confusing in regards to MY 2014, he basically said that the option is not on the window sticker and it is my issue, not theirs. I commented the option is highlighted in the manual, he said that the manual is for different countries. He was not at all interested in an amicable or supportive interaction. When I asked for a written follow up, he declined to do so. I have to admit that this has been the biggest BMW disappointment and they finally gave me a reason to bolt after having spent way too much money with them owning too many cars. If anybody has a suggestion or a contact at BMWNA or Germany to have a qualitative follow up, let me know. I wish this would have gone down differently, but guys let me tell you, customers do not matter to BMW anymore. |

I hope you will not be disappointed when calling Germany. Phoned to BMW contact Germany as i have a hard time understanding why the Europlus guarantee for 5 years is half the price of the i repair inclusive package. they told me to call my own country. They also told me there is nno repair package (it is in the pricelist and configurator!) After I told them there are no i cars in my country, they got confused and told me bmw.com will contact me later. They said they didnt get an email from me, although they had replied to me via email to contact my own country. So I got absolutely no service for an international call rate from the customer service of Bmw Ag directly. As in your case, the contact person tried to hide the lack of knowledge with arrogance and ingnorance! Very poor customer service.
