Running engine flush, mystery oil, transmission ATF?
Has anybody ever run any engine flush or ATF thru their n54, right before an oil change? I know for certain that atf works, since a lot of it is detergents anyway. But want to know if anybody had actual prior experience?

I use amsoil engine flush before oil changes. Pretty easy to use, dump it in idle engine for like 15-20 mins, then proceed with regular oil change. I'm not sure I'd risk running ATF in it, the oil is also feeding the turbos, not sure I'd risk it. The amsoil says its safe for turbocharged cars so...... I'd stick with products designed for flushing engines. If you've had long oil change intervals and potentially have sludge I wouldn't use engine flush either, don't want to dislodge any sludge and potentially clog any oil passages. If this is the case I'd say do 2 or 3 oil changes at low intervals and let the new oil slowly clean the engine, after that you can safely run engine flush if you wish.
