Can any F32/36 owners (assuming F32 & F36 use same suspensions) give me some feedbacks as to how the xdrive suspension is like (without the DHP/adaptive suspension)?

Im looking to get a 428GC/F36 without the DHP and 18" wheels. Im coming from a m235i with DHP and had an E90 xdrive prelci with the worst suspension BMW have made.

Thanks in advance

All I can add is that the M Sport suspension with runflats is terrible. I am not sure if the main contributing factor is the tire or suspension but I find the ride to be loud (tires) and harsh yet without the handling benefits. As soon as possible I am going to replace the M Sport with Bilstein coilovers. I dont have Xdrive.

It's the tires. I wouldn't use run flats that have lower than a 55 aspect ratio, the sidewalls are too stiff.

That's what I was thinking too. Once these tires become toast I will replace them. I am curious how much better the handling will get when I get the Bilsteins.

Not sure if this helps, but I came from an E90 sport package to an F30 xDrive; huge difference in suspension/handling. Initially I liked [well I still do] the softer suspension in the xDrive because of how crappy the streets are where I live, but now it just feels float and a lot less confident on the road. Might do the Dinan springs.

I may be able to help here.

I also had the E90 M-Sport XDrive suspension which rattled my teeth and exploded over potholes. I hated it so much that I transitioned into the F30 RWD Luxury line on the standard suspension. I really liked that suspension as it was far more civilized but the body roll was significant and it lost its BMW "edge" in tight corners or quick maneuvers. My E90 was too firm, my F30 was too soft.

My 428i GC/F36 RWD with DHP is the absolute best of both worlds. Hit the "Sport" mode button and you're back in your E90 without the bone-jarring harshness. Hit the "Comfort" mode and you're back in my F30 Luxury line with a touch more firmness.

The XDrive suspension is the softest BMW makes, it's softer than my F30 Luxury line was so the body roll will be more significant and it will lose even more of its BMW "edge" as a result. You're coming from an M235i and I can't see you being happy in an XDrive F3X without DHP.

Thanks for your feedbacks as always. I do know what you mean with DHP as it is awesome on the 235 at comfort mode (very soft for shitty roads) and in sports everything tightens up.

But I want to know what is like for the xdrive without DHP, is it harsh like the e90xdrives or is a much better improvement? I know the best way to find out is a test drive but feeedbacks from actual owners are best

Everyone is going to have their own preference as to how they like it, so you're better off to test it if you can.

XDrive suspension without any dampening reminds me of this clip.

It's the exact opposite.

An XDrive without DHP is the softest suspension BMW makes so it will be the polar opposite of your E90 XDrive which might have been the firmest suspension in BMW history.

My opinion, you are going to want an XDrive with DHP. Push the button, switch from Sport to Comfort. And remember, in Comfort, a DHP suspension will be tighter/firmer than an XDrive suspension. Here's the ranking from firmest to softest:

DHP in Sport mode (firm but not E90 harsh)
DHP in Comfort mode (soft +)
XDrive (soft)

My tires are fine and I already want to ditch them! These RFT's are terrible and loud.

You can always go aftermarket - I will agree that stock Xdrive suspension is too floaty and not what a BMW should be. It is comfortable though, which may or may not be important depending on what kind of a ride/handling you're going for.

I have Dinan suspension on my car, greatly stiffens the ride, absolutely no body roll, and improves the stance of the car immensely. If you get Xdrive, get this suspension installed. This paired with xdrive gives me the confidence to take corners at a very high rate

I wish they would release it for the 428xi already damnit. Dinan isn't bouncy like H&R right?

H&R is same PN for 328xi and 428xi I wonder if Dinan for 328xi would fit my car, than again if it worked fine in my car I'm sure they would advertise it considering how money hungry Dinan is.

No issues with fit going +1 on tire width?

The suspension isn't bouncy. It is stiff though. The roads around where I live are so bad that I don't really blame the car for this because I've driven other cars from other brands on 17s/18s + stock suspension, and they all ride the same.

Stiff is fine, I can live with a harsh ride, just not a bouncy one.

H&R is apparently as bouncy as an inflatable bounce castle.

+1 I changed out the RFTs after 6 months....HUGE difference. I figured I'd have to replace the tires when my lease is up, so I decided to buy some decent tires (Continental Extreme Contact DWS) now, then I'll put the RFTs back on when I turn the lease in.

On a different topic, I really like your car...
I plan on going with a 4GC MSport as my next ride, and am leaning towards EBII with Oyster/Black interior. Curious what interior color you went with

Edit...originally didn't see the link in your sig...Dakota black, thats the other interior option if I chicken out on Oyster
