N54 335i belt shredded

Had a rattle under the hood wasn't in the engine . Made an appointment at dealership but before I got it there it shredded the belt . Any clues to what it could be? Thanks

this has only been discussed about a million times. since you're xdrive most likely belt was leaked on by ofgh and it failed, hopefully you didn't ingest it into the crank seal.

Yea there is a lot about rattles on here ,I searched. Didn't notice any leaks ,engine was still running good after belt broke.
