Cobb downpipe and FMIC question.

Just curious what everybody thinks of the downpipes ? I see everybody running the catless downpipes but I want to keep the exhaust sound down as much as I can with being quiet. Anybody running these ?

Also the only comments I ever see about the Cobb FMIC is that they are overpriced.... So are they good ? Most cobb products I see are pretty high quality. I am a Cobb dealer so I would like to run the products we sell.

I am also planning on doing a Tial Blow off valve so trying to pick out a pipe to go with that as well.

Also I never plan on going over 450-500 whp basically taking the auto trans close to the limit dont plan on ever changing it out.

VRSF is the way to go, VRSF CP w/ Tial, 5" stepped FMIC, and downpipes, on a stock exhaust the sound isn't much louder than stock. Not that the other manufacturers out there are worse, but VRSF is proven even though the parts are low cost compared to others. Thats just my opinion.

I have sold quite a bit of cobb stuff just not anything for the BMW's move a lot of the subaru stuff and its very nice. Just worried because I dont see anybody running it on the BMW's.

Long story short there can be more had for less. If it's between CP-E AFE or Cobb I'd tell you to get the CP-E Downpipe and FMIC.

I just got a set of the COBB Catted DP's... I used to have AR Design catless DP's, but my wastegate rattle was horrendous, I just couldn't handle it anymore. I'm going to give these DP's a shot and see if they muffle the rattle at least a little bit... I miss the extra power =(

That said, I don't think my exhaust sound was much louder than stock when I had catless DP's (it was just the damn rattle), if that's what you're worried about. These days, you can get VRSF DP's for a great deal... if not, I'd go with the cp-e catless DP's... amazing fitment, great quality, for good price.

I don't see anything wrong with a COBB FMIC... don't know if you get a dealer discount =P Otherwise, ETS or AMS are my favorites.

I'm also going with the cp-e charge pipe with TiAL BOV... I liked the way the cp-e looked more than the ER charge pipe. If you're going to stick with the stock DV setup, the COBB CP is REALLY nice... I'm assuming it fits great (didn't install on my own car), and the finish is top notch... really beautiful piece to have under the hood.

cobb accessport is a great application. VRSF makes great bolt ons, i would imagine Cobb to have great quality. I dont see a lot of people running it but my hunch is because of the cost difference between something like the vrsf stuff.

I installed Cobb catted DPs a couple weeks ago. Top notch and good fitment. I was concerned about catted 3" and spacing issues, but they fit with plenty of clearance (iS with DCT, not sure if the AT tranny case makes for a tighter fit). As with any race cat, you will eventually get cat efficiency codes on them because the DME is so sensitive, but my purpose for buying them was not to be too loud or change the exhaust note much and my tune disables the codes anyway.

It's certainly louder than stock on cold start and under boost (even light boost), but at cruise/in vacuum, it's as quiet as stock for commutes.

If you're not worried about emissions, sound level or smells, w/o cats is certainly cheaper, but Cobb N54 DPs get

from me.

I have a Cobb FMIC bought it used for an amazing deal, haven't had any issues with it and it performs well. Like others have said they're are cheaper options that perform just as good if not better. I just Ordered VRSF downpipes just because its hard to beat the companies price points and they perform awesome.

Lol really? I got them off some guy from Craigslist for 280. He had like 10 of them sealed in box

Did he have a first name? There was a guy selling "VRSF" downpipes on CL, but they WERE NOT actual VRSF DP's, they were no-name knockoffs. My guess is it's the same guy using BMS now instead. Got a CL link?

His name was niko. I'll try to find the link. I hope they aren't no names and If they are im impressed with the quality.

Fitment will be the true task to be proven by the DP's you have. Majority of them look the same, but fitment, and metal qualities play a big role obviously.

I'd just be more concerned someone mis-labeling a part as something it isn't. Well he didn't really label them as BMS. I just asked him. And we'll see if they fit good. They look exactly like the ones I see online but we'll see when I install them in a few days. Wish me luck

I had a Cobb FMIC. It's a solid product, but it's overpriced compared to what else is on the market. There weren't as many options when I bought it.
