Tyres
I need a new set of front tyres and I just wondered what thoughts were about replacements.
My gut feel is that I should just replace with identical tyres (Bridgestones)that the car came with. These generally seem quite a lot more expensive than other brands however but I guess it's a case of you get what you pay for. The back tyres are fine and don't need replacing. In your views is there any problem as such with selecting a different brand of tyre for the front or is having mixed brands on the car a bad idea. Any views welcome, thanks |

To me, the main thing is having identical tyres on the same axle, and having good quality tyres. I wouldn't be bothered, when changing tyres like you are, if I went to a pair of Pirellis or something else on the front.

So yes, good brand good tread tyres of different brand front to back should be fine (and probably too late anyway, but unless it's a square setup, no scope to front rear swap to get all 4 to wear out at same time. |

Thanks a lot guys. Think I will stick with same brand. Had a look in the manual and it goes on about approved brands and safety and stuff.
Curious really, rear tyres are barely showing any wear but I would have thought that with the x drive being biased to the rear then these would have worn either more quickly or at the same rate. |

In F30 18" sizes goodyear only do the 'efficientgrip' tyres which are more of a touring tyre than performance.

Go to Costco and get yourself a set of the Bridgestones.
I went for non run flat. (initially just the fronts, but have now done the rears.) Much quieter smoother better handling ride. If you are worried about punctures you can either buy a full size spare, not ideal I know. Or you can do what I did and buy a few cans of tyre weld and a footpump. |
