**JB4 Mobile App Video**

As a labor of love for a fellow forum member, I helped create a short 30 second intro clip for dmacpro91; a dude who has made the dreams for many of us JB4 tuned, tech geeks come true by creating the JB4 Mobile App.

Those not familiar, dmacpro91 created the JB4 Bluetooth connect kit and developed the JB4 Mobile App for iOS and Android devices which allows for real time display on your mobile device to monitor, log, and adjust over 50 different settings for JB4 tuned N54/N55 engines (ie: change maps on the fly, read/clear codes, adjust meth settings, waste gate adaptation, 1st/2nd gear boost limitation, and much, much more). I remember back 7-8 years ago when I was big into the Audi tuning scene, and THIS was the kind of tech that I dreamed about. Anyways, hats off to dmacpro91 for a killer job developing/designing this app.

Enjoy!

Nice video!

I've been meaning to make a video of the app as well to include in my portfolio, but haven't had much time.

Thanks man! Aside from shooting, all editing was done on my iPad Air. Love the video editing apps that are out there now a days.

The one you linked to is not the same as the one sold for the iphone with bluetooth. Now if your saying that you can connect it directly to the iphone than that's a different story.

Yes directly to the device, all you have to do is hide a simple wire.. and saves you around $111 bucks..

OTG will work for the Android, not for the iPhone. Hence the Bluetooth adapter.

I'll admit it if I'm wrong if you post up an iPhone (not jailbroken) attached via USB. I hope it works to be honest, cause it would save me money.

How can you go and tell people they can do this when it's not even verified? You linked a thread saying it's been done but it's never been done on an Apple device. The maker of the app specifically says the only way to connect an iOS device is by HIS bluetooth cable only. Here is a quote from him answering someone else on this before:

OK so this has probably been brought up before, but is there no way at all to setup a direct connection from the JB4 USB cable to an iPhone or iPad (of course with a connection interface as we all know these devices don't have a USB outlet) and then purchase the app? I feel like there must be a way and the only reason I ask is that the wiring wouldn't bother me personally and I would want to get this setup now/soon and know there's a 1-2 month wait list for the Bluetooth option. Thanks for any insight on this!

Not going to happen for quite a few reasons.

1) My app would be rejected from the App Store for trying to use the dock connecter in an unauthorized way.

2) You *might* be able to get it to work with those old 30-pin connectors and a jailbroken device, but phones with those connectors aren't being made anymore and requiring a jailbreak is just too much to ask.

As I said in the first post, I've looked into other options, but this is all that works."

So don't go spreading misinformation until it's actually been verified to work

Hardwiring it directly is not "freakn simple". It's not going to magically start working just because it plugs in.

"It has nothing to do with cables, yea you could plug a lamp into an iPhone, but it doesn't mean it's going to work. It's a sublayer driver problem. Apple doesn't support direct USB host for iPhone."

I wouldn't go around spreading false information and asking people what they don't understand.. when you're clearly the one who doesn't understand.

You are absolutely right that sometime it is hard to hide wires and all of that. I will be doing it this weekend and have heard from others who have done it that it works, however, I will be doing it myself this weekend so I'll report back with pictures and video! Exciting stuff!

I wasnt talking about hiding the wires but more about software compatibility. I hope you can get it to work this weekend because I know a lot of people will buy the app if the BT kit isn't required for the ios devices!

This is what I remember being the issue. Its an Apple problem not a cable problem. Buying a cable isn't going to work. I bet the app developer already tried it a hence the expensive BT module.

Morton please report back if it works or most likely doesn't.

EDIT: Here is a post from the app developer himself. Good luck. http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...postcount=1609
