questions on other upgrades for an LSD

Hey guys,

Heres my car so far:

07 335i mt
JB4 w/ DCI
catless DP
VRSF FMIC
ETS CP/ synapse BOV
KW V1 coilovers
AE exhaust
General Gmax AS-03 tires
BMS OCC
BMS short throw shifter
BMS clutch stop

So after much research, i decided i am going to go with the Quaife LSD. I know this is very opinionated but I decided i will stick with my stock sway bars with the LSD after reading a lot about it. So i guess my question that i could not find a straight answer to.....Do i need to upgrade anything else along with the LSD with my setup right now? like bushings? flex disk? control arms? Or will my setup work fine with an LSD as a daily driving car. Any and all help is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Agreed... At least do diff bushings while the pumpkin is dropped.

Eventually you should do the subframe bushings too but that doesn't have to coincide.

I have the Quaife ATB unit in my 335i now.

It was the first mod I did to the car and besides the LSD, it's still stock.

Although I can't completely speak for your tuned car, for a daily driver I would imaging you will be fine.... maybe upgrading the diff bushing would be a safe bet.

Can you elaborate on this? What do the sway bars have to do with the LSD?

In short, too stiff of rear sway bar combined with a LSD are known to cause less traction.

I've had my Quaife for 3 years with no issues. I assume you ditched your run flats that should always be the first suspension mod. And I agree with others do not upgrade your rear sway bars.

Yeah i read a lot how you lose traction with a bigger sway bar.

I ditched the run flats right when i got the car.
I have the General G-max AS-03

Thanks for all the inputs guys; I really appreciate it.
So looks like i will be upgrading the LSD bushings to the M3 ones. Anyone know a good site to order these from for a good price?

You mean subframe bushings? If you would need those, pick whiteline inserts, that are better, cheaper and can be installed independently of LSD installation.

Good idea to get a diff lock down kit if you do many hard launches….like at a drag strip

Thanks everyone for their response.

So with the LSD, I want to replace the subframe bushings and add a lock down kit from reading a lot of other threads to prevent wheel hop. Does anybody know if the DEFIV kit comes with differential bushings? One person on another thread states it comes with the Delrin bushings but the website does not specify exactly what comes with it.

http://www.defivfabrication.com/n54.html

Also, I to upgrade the subframe bushings as well to the powerflex polyurethane. I am not sure if its the inserts I buy or is it a whole bushings replacement set I buy?

I narrowed it down to these 2

"Performance Polyurethane Rear Subframe Bushings - Front Position Set"

http://www.ecstuning.com/News/BMW_E9...013/ES2651333/

"Performance Polyurethane Rear Subframe Bushings - Rear Position Set"

http://www.ecstuning.com/News/BMW_E9...013/ES2650513/

Both of these are "rear subframe bushings" but do i get the "rear position set" or the "front position set"? or do i get both.

After reading more, I am going with the full bushings replacement rather than the inserts since the shop is going to work on the LSD while hes down there. So the labor for the subframe bushings wouldnt be as bad since hes installing the LSD. Thats why i decided against the inserts as the inserts are an easier installation process.

For subframe either go with m3 oem or solid delrin. Don't go poly in that location as they will wear out. Poly is ok for diff bushings though.
