GPS Antenna and trouble shooting
Hello,
I've recently acquired a 435i that had hail damage. The body work was done, but it looks like the GPS antenna is not working. The navigation screen is stuck on the location where the body work was done. Looking at the diagnostic screen in the hidden "Service Menu" under "Navigation" -> "Sensor Status" it reads "GPS Satellites: --". Everything else on this screen looks good. Also, in the GPS Satellite listing screen it show all "--". My assumption is that either the GPS antenna was damaged, or the connection severed somewhere (maybe just left unplugged). Searching google and this forum I'm still unclear where the antenna is even located. I had assumed the shark fin, but maybe not. I'd like to see if I can fix this before taking it somewhere, so any suggestions on trouble shooting the problem would be appreciated, Thanks! |

Take it to a dealer or to the place where the body work was done, clearly it was working when it was at their shop and they fucked it up.

So, the deal is that this is a rebuilt car because of hail damage. No warranty and the car was shipped so taking it to the original body shop is not an option. But yea, I swung by the local BMW dealership today and I'm going to take it in next week. The thinking is that the shark fin got messed up when re-assembling. I was hoping it may just be something simple that I can address myself but I'll just leave it to the dealer.
