And wifey calls and states "My car is destroyed!..."
Well, the second sentence was, "a dump truck flung shit all over it."
And the third sentence was, "the paint is all messed up." Followed by more or less, "there are several paint chips, but no dents, around the fuel filler area. something flew off a truck. I took a photo of it's license plate. But not sure if it's worth going through insurance." Looks like the quarter panel, fuel door, and black window trim all got a bit of road rash. But this is the side of the car so I'm not exactly sure what happened. So what say all of you? DIY paint chip repair? Take it to a paint chip repair pro? Take it to the dealer body shop. |

Most, if not all reputable, quarry companies (or whatever you call them) that use dump trucks have insurance for this. You'll have to find out who the company is and file a damage claim - let them pay for it.
This is one of my pet peeves, these phucking dump trucks that NEVER hose the dirt and rocks off their equipment wreak havoc on cars on the highways. If you ever get stuck behind one of these douchebags kiss your paint goodbye.

Completely agree! The ones that overfill these damn trucks need to be held accountable. What the DOT really needs to do is mandate stricter guidleines on the companies and stiff penatlties. OP, you may be met with more agrivation when you contact the company for payment, but persistance pays off. Good luck! |

Take it to pro. Self chip repair usually does not produce perfect result.
You also have some deep paint chips. Dr. Colorchip won't fix those surface imperfection. |

I agree, take it a body shop. I would call the dump truck company and file. They should cover the damage. |
