2008 335xi 29f3 code N54

I discovered this code in my car the other day when clearing my water pump codes. There were also a couple codes for misfires on cylinders 2 and 3. I did a quick check tonight with the BT cable, and the low pressure sensor was reading 5000 hPa (normal, as I have learned), and the high pressure side was at 50000 hPa at idle. Fuel trims were modest at 7 and 9 % for the two banks.

I cleared the 29f3 code along with my water pump code, and it came back the same day. Seems odd that the DME would throw the code despite the normal readings. Is it possible that it is an intermittent failure? perhaps the ocnnector is loose? I don't recall ever disconnecting it, but it's possible since i did my walnut blast a few months ago....

any help or suggestions are much appreciated!

one thing to add, about a month ago i was poking at fuel trims, and they were quite a bit higher, around 15-18%. i was surprised to see them at a more normal level now.

You need a low pressure fuel sensor about 100.00 very common problem. The car will run usually fine exept the code will always be present.

i guess my question is, why is it still reading normal fuel pressures? all the cases on the forums i read where this is the only code, they had fuel pressures pegged at 8k hPa or something like that. Mine is normal at 5k and bounces around when i hit the throttle. I will go take some logs at lunch.

so i just cleared the code, and went on a little test drive for about 15 minutes, enough to get it up to temperature.

The code did not come back
the low fuel pressure was reading 5000 hPa at idle and responded to throttle input
the duty cycle for the fuel pump was around 60% (pretty sure this is what i was looking at, hard to tell sometimes with the BT tool)
fuel trims were around 10% when in closed loop

Cross your fingers . I had normal reading at 1st but the code would clear and then when it did come back m lpfp reading were maxed. I guess only time will tell but either way good luck and if does fail its cheap.
