Sports springs on stock shocks - Help!!
I've been thinking of getting a more aggressive look on my 2008 BMW E90 328i. My friend told me that I should definitely lower my car. I've been doing some research and I've been thinking of install H&R sport springs. The link is below.
What do you guys think of putting sports springs on the stock shocks. I'm currently at 60k miles. I've been reading mixed reviews, some same it's fine some say it's a bad combo. How would the ride quality be? Please let me know if you've done this or anyone you know who's done this. Thank you so much! http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-328...ings/ES261651/ |

It might work... for awhile.
But sooner or later, it will blow your struts out. You might make it 20k miles, or it could blow them in 2k... cant really say. Many will say, just get new struts now and be done with it... for the price you will pay to have just springs installed, might as well pony up another $400-500 for struts to match. Others have gotten away with it... but it will ride like complete crap and be bouncy. Choose wisely.

Would you recommend a cup kit?
Alright, I would really like other people's opinions too!
Would a cup kit be a better idea? How about these Koni Yellow performance struts and springs http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-328...its/ES2581683/ |

I've been on H&R sport springs with stock struts for 9 months now. Rides fine. But yeah, I was warned that I'd have to replace struts sooner rather than later.

I initially lowered my E90 with H&R Sports, using my stock Sports Package struts/shocks. It wasn't bouncy. In fact, it was too stiff for all the driving I do so I sold them and put on Eibach Pro Kit springs and I'm a lot happier. Still riding on stock Sports Package struts/shocks. (that link in your first post is for the H&R Race Springs, which are lower and stiffer than the Sport Springs)

I got H&R sports on my e90 with stock struts/shocks and ride is comfortable. Go for it and add some spacers for a more aggressive stance.

You should be fine for about two years even with a tiny bit of tracking. However, it is best to replace your shocks at the same time because your obviously putting more stress on them as well as other components. I had Eibachs for 2 years no problem on my Honda and instead of just replacing stock shocks I went the coilover route.
Moral of the story you will be fine with no worries. Is it the best way to do it? No, but your cars not going to explode if you do lol regardless of what people will tell you there will be slight bounce but nothing uncomfortable and nothing your passengers would notice.

This thread just reminds me of how badly I want to go somewhat lower, but my driveway is in the way. |

I was in the same boat, at first I thought springs only but then thought cup kit. Then I realized I could adjust the height and the damping with coilovers so went that route. It's a tough decision though, I'm not made of money and the 800 or so you save with just the springs could buy you that new front bumper

I'm running h&r sports on stock sport shocks plus 19" run flats. Handling is much better and it's smooth on a smooth road surface. On a rough road it is a stiff rough ride, no bounce though. it doesn't bother me the harsher ride, I prefer a stiffer suspension. I am planning to upgrade the shocks soon though.
