You need to tell the car to "connect" to either the connected drive app or the M Lap timer. If it's grayed out that means the car isn't really communicating with either of the apps, so they are dimmed and not available for use. You must leave the relevant app running, and do not lock the phone.

I think you still need to 'connect' once you're there, launch the connection assistance on iDrive. I'd go look and test it.. but.. that requires me getting in the elevator.

I have everything working.... But only if it's in 'P' and he handbrake are on!! What the heck is the point? Everything is completely useless. I even started M lap timer when stationary, then it closed down soon as I took off.

This is how it works for me:
Connect iphone to usb Launch Laptimer app on phone. Click the + button top right. Click ok to disclaimer. (Leave the phone as is, don't lock or close the app) Then go to connected drive on the I drive screen. Select Laptimer. To start recording data click top left button. And again to stop recording. Nothing gets greyed out. Or stops working when handbrake released. If you're already doing the above then it's definitely different. I too have iphone 6. |
