Seems like it finally got me, oil smell inside the cabin, leakage around the valve cover dripping into the exhaust, oil consumption. Will be calling the dealership tomorrow i believe unless misunderstand my agreement it should be covered under my extended warranty under seals and gaskets. Ill stay posted.

Don't assume that it is just the gasket. Can be the cover itself too. I paid 1000$ to learn this.

The cover itself, in addition to the gasket. But I believe all that stuff is covered....

I wouldnt recommend my warranty company for other reasons though.

Got it, well i scheduled an apt at the dealership for Feb 16th, so i hope to get it fixed under the warranty., Im not liking the oil smell inside haha. Ill keep you guys posted.

I'm about to have a shop do it for around $300, should be around a 3 hour job? I'll keep you posted on that..

Weird I didn't have an oil smell inside the cabin when mine began to leak. I did have a shitload of oil all over the engine bay. If you have to come out a pocket find an independent shop and pay no more than 300-400 max for it. And if you have the oil cooler it will require 2 gaskets. I paid 350 locally and I have the oil cooler as we'll.

I just DIY'ed mine over a weekend. Wasnt too bad. $45 for the gasket - reused fasteners except for one that i replaced.

Were you able to confirm it was the VCG? If so, did they cover it?

I thought my VCG was leaking for the longest time until my Indy determined it was my OFHG.

Not yet, from what i see it is the valve cover gasket. I havent gotten the time to actually do some digging. I saw oil out of the gasket, also saw drips into the exhaust on the back around the downpipe area which was vaporizing it and all the fumes would go into the cabin. With the apt in place, they will have to determine the cause first then fix it, so ill find out for sure on the 16th i guess.

Im a tech as well and could do the job, but i purchased the car with an extended warranty. Might as well use it lol, if i didnt have it, for sure would have been an DIY.

Oh nice! thats not bad in price, to avoid the time n getting dirty i would do that if i didnt have the warranty, OR if my warranty does not cover it for some reason.

Interesting, not bad in price either. Mine was dripping into the exhaust downpipe, so it would vaporize it and go into the cabin.

Just a quick update, i just dropped off the car at the dealer, service advisor looked at it, as i thought he also thinks it maybe likely be the valve cover gasket, they will call me once confirmed and once agreed upon coverage with the warranty place to fix it. I wish i had requested a loaner car ahead of time...but i got a ride back home from their "ride" service they offer. Ill stay posted.

Another update, talked to the service advisor just minutes ago, from what he can tell so far without a full inspection done yet, valve cover gasket, maybe oil pan gasket, even i believe water pump or belt not sure (car squeaks a bit) will need replacement. Guess they will be calling the warranty place tomorrow (Reliable Protection Plus) and hopefully it is all covered and i get the car back needing nothing. They said most likely it would take some days to get it all done.

Latest update, dealer called me, they talked to my warranty place and also they confirmed what it needed. Needs the valve cover gasket done, oil pan gasket done, mechatronic gasket done. Also 1 of the head bolts is broken...(common issue) and tension pulley needs replacement. So the warranty will cover all the seals and gaskets, not before they send their private investigator to the bmw dealership to confirm all the diagnoses. They will try to work out a deal with me on the head bolt, i hope not much, and also we will see how much they want for the tensioner pulley...Meanwhile they did offer me a loaner
