Thinking about getting the Dinan upgrade for my M235. Any thoughts on this, pro or con? Appreciate any feedback.

I have Dinan on mine.
But there has been plenty and extensive discussions on this particular subject.
Just search and you will find it in this forum.

We (Thompson BMW) happen to have a M235 on our lot with Dinan Stage 1 if you would like to stop by sometime and drive it for comparison.

Am I correct in understanding that the Dinan upgrade voids the BMW warranty, but then warrantied by Dinan until the end of the original BMW warranty?

I have driven the Dinan Stage 1 on my M235i. It is a nice little bump in power and smooth. You can find other piggyback devices that can increase the performance further, but the Dinan is very safe, albeit expensive in comparison.

The only time your factory warranty would be voided is if a Dinan component directly causes a related part failure. For instance if you install Dinan suspension and a strut failure was to occur your BMW factory warranty will be voided for those related suspension components. At that time Dinan will cover replacement under there 4/50 warranty. In the same sense if your engine was to spin a rod bearing your BMW warranty will cover replacement because it has nothing to do with a suspension installation.

I have driven multiple Dinan equipped vehicles from M5's to 328's and they are all equally great. What impresses me is how smooth the power is delivered. There are other good tunes out there for sure but for me a tune offered with a warranty gives me piece of mind. Just my 2 cents.

i currently have the dinan stage 1 installed and its very smooth. that being said, i am considering some more aggressive tunes and would like to sell the dinan. if you're interested in a lightly used unit i would be willing to make you a good deal. keep in mind that dinan is getting ready to release their stage 2 in march so with the stage 1 unit you will only have to pay the cost difference to upgrade to the stage 2.
