Does titanium silver chip easier than other colours?

Hi all -as above, I have a 2008 e93 in silver with more than twenty chips on the bonnet-but looking at other similar aged bmw's in other colours they don't look to be chipped as much?-or am I just unlucky?-thanks

I'd assume colour has nothing to do with it, as what gets the damage is the clear coat.

But I don't know anything about body work, only mechanical.

From what I understand, the metallic colors, or the ones you pay for, seem to hold up slightly better than the base paints.

This is probably just my imagination or maybe the more complex colors are easier at hiding imperfections...beyond that I really couldn't tell you for sure...

Tell me about it, Had a full front end respray, less than two months ago and its been chipped a few times again all ready, both doors are being done soon as the car seams to be a magnet for chips. I've driven the sames places, same routes same style of driving but this car just seams to suffer from paint damage more than any car I've ever owned.

Some paint colors show chips and blemishes more than others! It's like a dirty car, a black car shows dirt as a white car doesn't show dirt as much.

+1 My wife's Black 325i looks like a shotgun shot the front end, can't keep up with it as many miles as she puts on that car.

Generally, the lighter colors are the "hardest" and the darker colors are "softer".

Yea, my 335 is black and the front end has a million tiny chips! I spent 3 hrs one afternoon trying to touch them up but finally gave up! Lol from 5ft you can't see any of them but Up close you can see them all. Figure I'll repaint the front end once it gets really bad! Haha

I have very tiny chips in the headlights, only can notice them when the sun hits them just right!

I thought I was the only owner with the curse. Montego blue e92. Form ten feet looks fine, at three feet the bumper, hood, and fenders are a mess. I'm having the front end repainted this spring, from the windshield forward. The detail shop that Simonized the car in November recommended covering the bumper and hood with a 3M film. Cost around $600. It might be worth it considering the paint job is $1700.

wonder if its because the move away from 2-pack paints to enviro friendly water based junk, that just doesnt have the thickness and resistance of the old stff.

It must be something along those lines-we have a 17 year old Renault in the family with hardly any chips at all!
