Best Girlfriend approoved exhaust ?
I have been searching and most clips I hear dont really do some of these justice I think... I am looking for the best flowing but quietest exhausts system.
I would love to go catless but think that is where im going to gain a lot of volume.... thinking about possibly a full cobb turbo back ? But I am planning on upgrading to vargas stage 2 turbos and dont think that will be enough flow for them. FYI i have searched a lot and listened to 100s of exhausts clips but they all sound super raspy. |

I have catless downpipes with stock exhaust and it sounds great but every now and then, I want a good roar. So I've been kicking around the idea of getting an aftermarket dual exhaust and getting a cutout valve to block off one side when she's in the car. Anyone think this is a good idea? Essentially, the same idea as on our factory exhaust.

Cut out secondary cats and replace mufflers with a set of Varex Mufflers. Wont be cheap though.

I'm in the same boat. Got DPs already. I'm gonna replace the secondary cats with bullet mufflers. They should get rid of the raspy sound of running no cats and flow a little better than with secondary cats.

I basically just want a nice sounding exhaust with no highway cruising drone. That's mostly what a GF approved exhaust is. And not raspy just a nice deep / mild tone

I had an aftermarket catless exhaust on this car. dual 2.5 inch piping, no cats. it wasnt too much louder at idle, but on a 6at car, it would drone horribly around 2k rpms....which is my most common cruising rpm. went back to stock, and car is quiet as a mouse. prob left a couple of ponies on the table, but who cares, its a lot more civil to drive.

if you must buy an exhaust to get a deeper note.. downpipe + ae bastuck milltek to name a few. all very mild, but with a downpipe i'm sure you you would still have some slight/manageable drone. i have a milltek with the resonators gutted and gf has never had a problem with it. |

catless downpipes and stock exhaust or PE exhaust for a bit more sound (although flapper valve mod in stock exhaust is a lot cheaper than PE for some of the lower rev sound). Everything else will drone at least a little.

Stay stock, or go with PE... all catback exhausts will drone a little, more on AT. Even my AE drone quite a bit from 1700-1900rpm with catless dp, bad enough to vibrate the rear storage cover if I don't stuff a towel in there.
