Is my oil cooler too efficient?
Just got the car a couple weeks ago. It has been in the teens to the 30's since I've owned it.
I've seen it hit 205 degrees once...on my drive home from Michigan to Ohio when I bought it. Most of my trips are to/from work, about 30 minutes, 10 minutes on the freeway, some back roads, a bit of stop and go traffic as well. More than enough time for the car to warm up. Oil typically gets in the 180-190 range, but usually toward the end of my trip. Changed the oil tonight and pulled off the cover for the oil cooler thermostat. It is in there as is the spring, so it has been pulled out or replaced with the BMS unit. I didn't think to pull it apart and see if it had been modified in any way. I'll be installing the JB4 this weekend, so an efficient oil cooler isn't a bad thing by any means. I'm just wonder if I'm not getting proper oil temps when I should be or if its normal when the temps are this cold. |

Thermostat stuck open?
Have you hammered on the car after it gets to op temp to see if it ever goes higher? I'd be curious to know coolant temps also.
