N54 - Change your spark plugs more often.

I changed my spark plugs last night (32000 miles since I last did it), and it made a huge improvement.

My car used to hesitate pretty bad every time when accelerating within a few minutes after a cold start. This morning, my car felt smooth as new right after a cold start (18°F), no hesitation whatsoever.

BMW recommends 45k miles interval on the stock N54 engine. On a tuned engine, 25-30k miles interval sounds more appropriate.

The central electrode on each spark plug lost some material, not much, but apparently enough to make a difference.

Im going to do my plugs as soon as it warms up. I have the same cold start hesitation as you. I have new injectors too, but im curious if the plugs will fix the problem.

I have heard 15-20k on plugs for tuned/modded cars.

This motor is seems really finicky so doesn't surprise me. Dealer did plugs at 28k miles in the course of troubleshooting a hesitation and I changed them and the coils at 53k and reset the adaptations and it seemed to make a difference.

My plan is every 10K/every other oil change.
