2011 335 reliability/issues thread

I spoke to a bmw service manager and he said they didnt see many issues at all with the 2011 335s, since most all the bugs were worked out-

Im thinking about getting a 2011 33 xdrive msport, has 25K miles, certified- i think its awesome how the CPO now starts after the factory warranty is over.

Thanks for your input

My input is this: believing in a stealer rep in 2015 is out of this world.

I've owned for about 6-7 months now and haven't really had any problems with it except a strange noise which was caused by a procede.

I've had mine for over a year now and she's been purrrrfect. In fact only light I see is the check engine light due to my down pipe. But after the Cobb it auto clears. Granted I have a second car I just clocked 1000 miles the other day after owning the car for about 1year 3 months

I've had mine for just over a year. I'm the second owner and it was a CPO with a PPK S1 and 24k miles on it. Not one issue at all.

Mine was a CPO, w/PPK

The charge pipe was replaced, as part of the CPO certification. The AC (I believe it was the evaporator) had to be repaired; it was missed during the inspection

I've had my 11 for ~5 months now. Bought at 45K, now at 49K miles. No engine related issues, but several of the other e90 body related issues have come up, all under warranty:

- Exhaust flap in left muffler failed
- Battery dying after ~4 years
- Door weatherstrip seals torn and replaced
- Passenger seat occupant sensor flaky

One other thing to check: I believe in 2014 BMW changed the CPO plan. CPO is now no longer valid if the car is sold person to person.

Your car will covered by CPO as you are purchasing it from the dealer, but your car will lose the CPO coverage if you resell it. Used to be, CPO stayed with the car, even if resold.

I've had my car for 15 months and have had several issues:

1)exhaust flap on left muffler broke
2) intermittent rough idle
3) passenger seat occupant sensor had to be replaced
4) steering column sensor had to be replaced
5) two new batteries
6) a couple fuses had to be replaced
7) two times I had problems with my trunk: the actuator and the release button next to the steering column had to be replaced
8) Passenger side bolster motors had to be replaced
9) windshield gaskets had to be replaced

I might be missing a few actually. I've had quite a few problems but I guess you can consider them little or minor issues. The engine for the most part has been awesome other than the rough idle

I've owned my car since day 1 with 6 miles on it from the factory. It's been extremely reliable with the only real issue being the rotors warping to about 25k miles. Otherwise it's just been regular maintenance. I have the BMW Performance Exhaust and PPK as the only real mods though.

I had my 2007 335 for a little over 2 years and put 40,000 miles on it and never really had any issues. The worst thing which I dealt with was a wastegate rattle.

I have had my 2011 for a year and put 15,000 miles on and have also not had any issues. Except some rattles, poor idle, and sticky buttons.

It really depends on how the previous owner maintained and drove the car.

Picked mine up CPO. Had about 30k miles on it. Now I've put nearly 10k miles on it. I got a copy of the service records for what was done to the car after they took it in to bring it up to CPO standards and it looked like a couple things related to CV boots I think, but that's about it. New tires too.

Other than that, I had the HPFP replaced due to longer starts, especially in the cold or weirdly when the engine was warm. Took care of the VANOS bolt recall too.

No other major issues that I can tell. Here's some minor ones though:
  • Car makes a weird noise when making left turns, but only in the cold.
  • Driver's side headlight washer is also leaking. My car looks like it's peed itself every time I walk up to it in the morning to go to work.
  • I also hear a click and then a repetitive knocking that sounds like it comes from the front driver's side of the vehicle, it is speed sensitive, but it goes away in about 1-2 seconds. This only happens after I start the car and drive off after it's been parked.

All in all, really love the car!

Aside from some nasty smell coming from the climate system for the first minute of running it and an obnoxious array of bangs, clatters, squeaks, and creaks- all good- no lights on the dash, no limp mode, no half-engine light, no HPFP fails.

Maybe you should stop riding around with bodies of dead hookers in your trunk..

None of these things are N55-related. They could happen to any BMW.

And to the OP, I have been tuned for a year now and the only issue I've had was a leaking oil filter housing gasket which is a common problem with 335s and 328s. Other than that, the car has run flawlessly and has never left me stranded.

Got my 335 xdrive 2011 last year in summer with only 35000 KM on the dashboard. No problem so far but with the very cold weather in Canada the battery became weak on cold start. Other than that, had a recall on the VANOS and the wire from the battery to the engine.

Overall its been a great car. I do the regular oil change myself (BMW 5W30 + BMW filter).

And I pulled the trigger on FBO mods (intake, FMIC, CP and DP). Also dropped the car with KW v1. No problem at all even with the COBB tune.

Now the car has 44000KM on the odometer.
