ST coils on the east coast
Who here has had ST coils on their car that's in the east coast? I've been doing more research and if I were to get them I could just wash the coils and keep care of them to prevent corrosion. Any input and experience would be appreciated. If I had the extra money Id probably get kw v1 but if it just means a little extra work to save a few hundred that is fine

No experience in NJ winters (although I was born and raised in NJ) BUT I couldn't be any closer to saltwater as I work in Virginia Beach and have ST coilovers on 2 cars over a period of about 3 years (a year on the BMW and several years on my GTI prior). We don't get but about 2 small snows a year but we get four seasons otherwise. I have not had ANY corrosion or seized issues. I spray em down with grease/oil about once a year and that's it. that being said I have seen pics of rusted ST coilovers. Theoretically I could buy them twice for the price of KW V1s and they have a 5yr warranty so that's 2 sets and 10yrs for the price of KW1s lol

From What I've read , if people oil them down once before the winters and just wash them down once or twice throughout the winters we should be fine with ST. They're awesome quality and come with a 5 yr warranty. Also they're almost half the price of kwv1. I just want to hear more people's experiences

I have them. 2 winters and 0 issues. You just have to as stated above... clean them, oil them before the salt hits then wash them off with a power washer when you wash the car. They're okay for budget coilovers. Rears are too soft, but that's all coils for this platform unless you get custom spring rates. Also, the major downside for me is that they don't come with front camber plates. For $100 more you can get BCs which are better quality in my opinion and they come with $400 worth of camber plates built in. Hope this helps.
