It's because of the NAV - XM Direct is not compatible with NAV-based vehicles. You can however, use Sirius.

Are you telling me know one out there has or is working on a XM system that will work with Nav? I just got a 2007 Z4si Coupe. Loving the car but not having XM is a drage.

No plans for XM Direct in NAV-equipped vehicles. Since the XMD1000 tuners were discontinued, the kits are very hard to find.

Hold on a second. I have the XMD1000 with Blitzsafe that I pulled from my non-nav 2004 MINI Cooper S. Are you telling me that this unit will work in my 2007 M Coupe with Nav? Let me know as I ready to get XM BAck!

Bummer, I will just have to try a clean install as possible without integrating it into the cars Nav/control system using a TX or something for XM. Thanks

Yes! You've already got the necessary equipment - get those parts installed!

Not to jack this thread, but I have a question for Tom. Is the TV on NAV going to be obsolete the advent of HDTV?

Unfortunately, it will - but BMW does have a digital version of their tuner we will be testing soon to verify it is US compatible.

If not, we have a backup plan.

Tom. Thanks for the information. Anymore self-help pics and/or instructions? Also, where can I purchase a new antenna as I had to cut the old one out of the Mini?

Here's an install we did in a MZ4C:

This should help.

Are you saying that the Sirius in-dash integrates with the nav and perhaps gives realtime traffic?

Not on the X3/Z4. This is only a feature on iDrive vehicles. Sirius would be your only way to get realtime traffic reporting.
