Battery Drained No Start Nothing
I have a 2006 330d MSport and last night the alarm went off. I couldn't use the key fob to open the door. Shortly after the alarm stopped. I resorted to the manual use of the key to open the door. No lights on nothing. Slotted the key to start the car but there wad no response. Had to get green flag out to start it. He charged some of the battery but only aftera while could I use back my own battery.
At the moment I've gone to my car to start it every couple of hours. My guess it'll drain the battery again over night. Any help what my issue is? |

Just letting it run... is not really doing much for the batt... either pick up a charger or drive it for an hour.

Yes that's what I've done drive it. And just started it again and the DSC warning light had come on as well as the TPMS light on my iDrive. Just noted that very recently I've had my two rear tyres changed wonder if this work could have disturbed a sensor or something and perhaps shorted the battery?

Battery itself is the first step. Sometimes they fail suddenly as opposed to slowly which most do. I had a 1 year old Bosch on my E36 just die, two hours after I drove the car once. Tore the car apart looking for a short...but turns out it was in the battery itself.
Highly unlikely that tire work would do something to the battery, and the random failures you're seeing is symptomatic of the battery. That said, if you put a new battery in it, register it and you get the same problem or " Battery Level Low" on the iDrive shortly thereafter, then you're going to have to dig deeper to see what's causing the drain. |

From personal experience, if a duff battery manages to end up completely discharge, then it's dead. Not simply resting, or pining for the fjords, but dead.
Leaving the lights on long enough when removing an old car kit was enough for mine to meet its maker. Especially if it's on the cold side. |

Battery Now Not Dead
Thanks for the responses. Now, this is weird, had green flag (2nd time) come round.
1. I called them out again as I could not use key fob to open car door, used manual key to open it, does not start again, not even cranking over. Can't even turn on the hazards. 2. Recovery guy tried to use his portable battery, no joy, then used jump leads, it started. Then he charged my battery whilst using his own battery to power up the car, again, car started. Left it to run for 10 mins, then took it for a drive for another hour. Car felt fine in drive. 3. At the point of starting the car and driving it off, I get DSC Failure and TPMS on. 4. I then disconnected my Belkin USB connector that connects to the cigarette lighter (I've always left it connected i). 5. After 5 hours or so of no use of the car, started it again, it cranked up and started normally, NO DSC, NO TPMS light on iDrive. 6. 1 day later and temp -3 outside, started fine. 7. Now I am puzzled, so does this mean folks that I DO NOT HAVE A FLAT BATTERY anymore?? 8. Confused! 9. Touch-wood it is fine! |

I had weird electrical issues too. Replaced the battery and worked for a few days, then issues came back. It was a bad alternator. Replaced it and all works fine now.
