E90 Driver side mirror not folding

Hey guys. Kind of new to e90post but I have not been able to find the answer to my problem. My driver side mirror will not fold automatically. Every time I unlock the car, you can hear the mirror motor? running and it will go until it eventually stops. The mirror functions work properly, just not the auto fold. Does anyone know whats going on?? Im sick of this noise everytime I open my car! 2006 330i btw.

Drivers side mirror folding actuator always seems to be the first one to go.

These links might help, I replace mine because it's a nice feature in parking lots. You can cut the white wire until you can find a replacement, if you cut it, tape it, don't leave it exposed!

Okay awesome. Thank you for that. At least this will fix the problem until I can fix it. To completely fix the issue am I going to have to buy a new mirror assembly?

Yes, I would get a new assembly. It's not to hard of a DIY if you have trim removal tools.

I cut the white wire on my driver's side and about six months later the passenger side started doing the same thing. In my case the mirror would just fold in and out and then stop someplace other than where it should be. You would have to go out and manually put the mirror casing where it was supposed to be and it may or may not stay there. I have no problem with them not working at all.
