LED Headlights coding

So per my dealer my f80 m3 Led doesn't have the right camera nor the hardware to code the auto high beams? Anyone heard of this before?

If you have LEDs that means you also have auto high beams, which means you also have a cmera, which finally means your car can be coded for razzle dazzle sexy lights.

In the case of the OP, since he seems to be in the US, the above post is true.

But in the rest of the world, having LED headlight does not automatically imply high beam assist. Fore example, in Canada, for $2000, you only get the LEDs. You need to pay an extra $1500 for the Technology Package to get HBA (I know, we are getting screwed big time here up north ).

The technology package includes some of the cameras I am assuming?

No, no cameras.

Technology package is akin to the Driver's Assistance package in the US.

To get the rear view camera you need to shed $4500 for the premium package.
If you also want the top view camera, you need to shed an additional $4500 M4/$5000 M3 for the executive package (premium package is mandatory to be able to order the executive package).

Haven't looked into it, but bet you have: the fancy anti dazzle stuff is also default off in Canada, right? (Ie if I want it I will need to get it coded in?)

Good point. On the flipside, you can get Xenons with Tech Package and code them to do razzle dazzle stuff which can save you $2000 on LEDs. We don't have that otion on US Spec cars.

Yes, it is off. Transport Canada and the DOT are pretty well aligned (not to say retarded ).

To be able to code the "anti-dazzle highbeams", my understanding is that you also need to have the High Beam Assistant (HBA) that can only be had with the Technology Package in Canada. You can still code the "low beam shaping" though without needing to have the HBA.

Since I ordered the "Speed Limit Info", I have the required camera for the "anti-dazzle highbeams", so I am still hoping there is a way to code the "anti-dazzle highbeams" to be always on when the high beams are on.

Yeah, I figured that Transport Canada did its usual lazy-assed 'follow DOT protocols' when it came to this item. Sometimes, though, they surprise you and have something slightly different from DOT (in fairness, though, usually not in any useful way different, mostly just in an annoying way to make getting goods over the border that much harder...)

And I've loaded my ride up (oh yeah, I am the sucker who went both tech AND executive. the only things I didn't get were speed limit info and parking assist) so I have the hardware - just need to get on coding.

Did you ever hear more about the IOS coding program? (I emailed the one website that makes the dongle, but heard nothing back. If I could get that set up, I would raise my status from 'minor enthusiast' to 'nerdy coding minor enthusiast' in no time!)

Check your order sheet.

5AP and 8S4 are the codes that are stopping your car doing the anti-dazzle and the variable light distribution.

Both the LEDs and the adaptive xenons are capable of all the fancy lighting tricks. But as you say, you will need the high been assistant to switch it all on.

Not sure of your builds...
