Audi RS5?

I know this is BMW forum, please don't shoot me for asking about Audis. Sold my loved fully loaded X5 day before yesterday. Having owned many BMWs in past I am looking for a change and RS5 comes to my mind. I know nothing about Audi, so for buying I don't know what must-have and nice to have options shall look for. Audi electronics looks much inferior but I may be wrong here. Any idea guys?

Pricey, handles like a tank. If you want something that drinks serious petrol get a C63.

It's a quick point to point car and grips really well. Autocar said it was quicker in these conditions than an M3, but wasn't as much fun due to being 200kg heavier

I have an RS4 and love it. Amazing handling car, but would be better with a few hundred pounds lost.

The RS5 is the same, but worse. It's heavier with essentially no more power. And no manual trans (kills it for me).

If you're into the latest and greatest game, the next gen RS5 is coming soon.

In the end, go drive one. Also drive M3, C63, etc. and see which one you like the most.

I was settled for convertible 640d this time but I am unable to find a good specced one at the moment, thought will try something outside BMW world. Then more and more power came to my mind.

Problem with buying M3 at the moment is used one will be Exx series and F series is out and also M4 is out now so old Exx will depreciate a lot. Generally I buy used but within manufacturer warranty for peace of mind and also warranty is easy to extend.

My budget won't let me have GT-R, so is new M5 (both I would love to have) so Audi RS5 was good choice. I had 535d before which was as heavy as RS5. Old M3 interior is dated now. What other choices do I have.

C63 is a better animal. We have one coming in on trade (RS5) and usually I get to drive whatever is on the lot, Im going to pass on this Audi for my Ol 335.

Id give the rs5 a miss, the c63 will handle and sound alot better, the m3 would be a better choice than the rs5 aswel.

If you after a car that 2-3 years old with manufacturers warranty your looking at 31k + for an m3 or rs5.

For a few more grand i would get an 09-10 plate gt-r that would blow all the cars away, ive drove the gt-r on a track day and it was more fun than any supercar and the bloke who took me out in the gt-r said there aint another car on the road that will touch it.

There also far rarer than m3, c63 and rs5 and sound awesome

Im a big fan of the RS5, ok its heavy but its more than you ever need on the roads. Also has a nicer cabin than the M3 and C63. M3 ive drove several times and to be honest I hate it, admittedly this was the E93 so maybe the extra weight was the reason.

Not sure I agree with the handling comment as the C63 doesn't go around corners but its a beast of an engine. However the cabin just looks dull to me.

RS5 will hold its value better than the M3.

Gtr is awesome but I think you need to spend nearer 40k for a nice example.

Do we know what options is must-have and what is desirable in Audi lot? e.g. BMW has CIC/NBT must, hud desirable, dynamic suspension highly desirable (and rare) etc.

bang and olufsen (might be std)

flat bottom mfsw

bucket leathers (although people class standard rs5 as bucket but i think you can get proper extra buckets)

option also was to have top speed increased to i think 175mph

carbon package

dynamic steering

you can get dynamic ride control also

A top speed increase to 175mph is going to be very useful!

An early S5(2008-2009) with a NA 4.2 V8 is a better option as an Audi in my opinion

Get one, amazing car and very rare interior and exterior is the best looking by far over m3 and c63.

Ok the m3 has amazing handling but it's no use on the streets and ok the c63 has amazing power but agen you can't use it on the streets but the rs5 does have awd and launch control which you can use on the streets. For example at any traffic light you will leave both the m3 and the c63 Behind and by the time they catch up the speeds will just be too dangerous for on the roads and the rs5 will stick round corners with its awd while the m3 is all over the place because of the oily rutty roads. So for the streets the rs5 is the best performer I would say.

Saw (09/11 25k on the clock) RS5 today at a next-to-car-wash type dealer who was also a very rude person so far I have seen as a possible customer (asking price £35k and won't reduce a penny, but this is not why I am calling him rude) because of his attitude I didn't even think once to extend my budget to get what he was selling. But man, RS5 had amazing interior, everything was brilliant piece of design, outside also not very special but still very refined. Pictures on autotrader do no justice to what it was to see in flesh.

C63 from outside is not a good design, superb engine (and track) though. M3 bought now will depreciate much and believe me M3 interior is very boring compared to RS5, M3 looks good from outside with very sporty aggressive design. RS is very reasonable balance so for now I will be on RS5.

I am in no hurry, I might wait till mid-March to see if newer reg will change the market. At the moment all the used ones I am seeing are £2k dearer than previous year, for some unknown weird reason.

Like x5 purchase I will keep this thread posted. Let me know if you guys spot something interesting meanwhile.
