Comparison of M4, RS5 & Lexus RC F in Evo Today

Interesting comparison, they make the M4 sound like a bit of a handful. Evo definitely appear that they'll be supporters of an Xdrive M4!

I don't appear to be able to link to the article in the Evo ipad app, find it in Newstand in the App Store.

In a nutshell, RC F more of a GT car than sports car, RS5 has immense grip but is dull, M4 most exciting but a bit scary on even slightly damp roads.

I'd agree to some extent, pretty sure my traction lit up at 60mph on the M56 when I floored it! Traction staying on likely forever for me except on a track!

Before I got my M4 I drove the RS4 and RS5 and found them both pretty uninspiring to be honest. M4 can be raw but can also be very civilised depending on settings. I like that ability to change character.

Traction is an issue in 1st and 2nd gears even in the dry and when wet / greasy care should be taken and I too would not turn off DSC unless I was very very sure. This car can bite !! This is part of its appeal.

Yea, had some issues with grip exiting a rather steep underground car park on D-logic mode.

Goes rather skiddish and have ppl giving looks. Rears need better grip.. perhaps moving to a different tyre manufacturer at a later stage.

I do like the RS4.. in terms of everyday practicality but the M3 does drive better, IMO.

I guess actually having to posses any driving skill, or use any type of effort is a bad thing now.

I don't think you'll find any better tyre than the pilot super sports tbh!

I detect a very slight hint of sarcasm here

I do have to agree with your statement though. . . At what point did the world decide that if you can't just WOT through 4th gear that a car becomes "unmanageable?"

I agree with Vector2 and braineck .. we are too quick to put a car down now a days if it slips a bit. I think that's where the skill comes in and tbh that's the bit I enjoy most about the M4. If/when I want to drive it fast, I know I have to respect the car and control it with things like throttle control, angle of entry to a bend and the speed. Love driving it with traction off as that's when I get the most thrill .. just to clarify, I am not encouraging fast driving with traction off .. that's just how I enjoy it

I've had my traction control go crazy a few times. Keeps me in check. I don't think, given this is my first M, that'll I'll be turning of MDM/DSC on my M4 anytime soon!

Haven't had them fixed yet but had a few quotes all around £100 but a week downtime (with no Guarantee)

Think I might just sand it down and Lacquer it up for the time being..
