Your favorite Philly (suburbs) driving road...

Thought I would open up a discussion about local favorite driving roads...

I'd say my favorite road is Wrightstown road in Newtown, PA...between 532 and Durham Road (413).

What is yours?

Back roads between Kennett square and centerville/Wilmington DE. Really beautiful and scenic, especially during spring and fall

35 Minutes from Philly and 5 minutes from my house in West Chester, PA Hands down the most enjoyable road I have driven on locally. Creek Road with a mix of Rt 52, Lenape Road and Smithbridge road . Everytime I did any suspension work on my M, this was my test track for seating the suspension Can hardly wait to get my F80 and drive here.

Here are a few videos in my E90 M from 2013

My top 3 would be
1. Kelly drive/west river loop
2. Glad wine back roads (nice elevation changes)
3. Lafayette hill (Mont co.)

My personal favorite is near where I grew up in Bucks county. Take Swamp road from Newtown, down Worthington Mill to 232, then all the way to New Hope. Has to be at night though, don't want anyone in front of you.

This is a very nice drive and not crowded. I tried it today and really enjoyed it. Thank you for posting it!

I'd be VERY careful on that road....don't let the lack of white lines fool you. Newtown Police LOVE finding victims there.

If you want to run some killer roads in Bucks, PM me......I will go for a run any time you want.

Cheers,

I drive on Smithbridge every day to/from work. All the roads in that general area are very good.

Yeah, lots of good roads in West Chester area. Also lots of good roads in Chadds Ford area which extend through Greenville/Centerville area of DE.

Could you be more specific? I am always very interested in discovering nice driving roads.

The roads outlined in DSM918's post are a pretty good start. I can't quite make out his map, but below is a real nice drive in that exact vacinity.
  • Take Creek Rd South from West Chester to Route 1,
  • Follow Creek Rd South (also known as Pennsylvania Historic Route 100) south until you hit SmithBridge Rd,
  • Turn left on SmithBridge
  • Right after you cross the covered bridge, make an immediate right,
  • Follow Brandywine Creek Rd,
  • Turn left on Ramsey,
  • Turn right on Thompsons Bridge Road (92), follow that road until you get to Kird Rd,
  • Make a right on Kirk, then make a right on 52 and head back to Rte 1.

That's an awesome drive. Only problem is that there could be a lot of oncoming traffic depending upon if there are any activities in the area.

Be sure to stop at Hank's Place on Rte 1 for breakfast or lunch.

Thank you: I will give this a try. Last weekend I went from SmithBridge to Creek Road and I am really looking forward to driving a bit more around that area.

Actually, even better, take Kirk Rd all the way through, don't make a right on 52. You'll drove through Hoopes Reservoir. Then make a right onto Owl's Nest Rd and follow that up to 52.

I'm going to take a similar path when I finally get my car.
