Plasti dip'ing M235i rear lip spoiler ?

Noob here ... never done any kind of mod before. Could use some opinions.

I'm getting a Glacier Silver M235i, and was thinking that I could plasti dip the stock rear lip spoiler black in color. I think Glacier Silver and black would contrast REALLY WELL ! And, this is a relatively cheap way to get a nicer looking rear, without having to buy a new spoiler.

What do y'all think about the idea ? Black lip spoiler on silver car ?

Who has done this kind of thing before ?

Any experiences removing Plasti Dip before selling / trading in ? I know that it can be peeled off, though it might affect the surface (scratches) when peeling off.

My main concern - it will affect the resale value, right ? How much ? Any experiences selling a Plasti Dip'ed car ?

If I'm able to make this thing look good, I might consider painting the stock rims black also. Black rims, blue M calipers ?!!!! Sick, right ?!

You can. It doesn't scratch the surface or anything when it peels off.

In my opinion, plastidip makes the car look cheap. I like the gloss finish over the matte finish any day of the week.

Don't end up like this guy:

My 2 cents: Because of the matte finish, Plastidip lends a primered-parts-on-Civic look to the car IMO. I agree that a glossier finish would look better. I've never been a fan of matte black wheels; they just get lost in the wheel well with the tires.
With everyone adding CF parts to cars, the general concept of the black spoiler is certainly in style. I think color matching it to the dark grey diffuser would work the best.
To walk back my first statement a step, I think plastidipping the diffuser wouldn't look bad. that part is frequently matte black/grey on cars.

I don't think it would look good plasti-dipped, but you could always try it and peel it off if you don't like it. Just check out the videos on youtube to get an idea of how to apply it and remove it.

Why not have it wrapped in CF vinyl (or do it yourself if you have the skills)? It won't have the gloss of an OEM CF spoiler but it would probably look a lot better than Plasti-dip. Here's a pic of my wrapped mirror caps. I think they look pretty good.

Wow, your mirror does look awesome ! Yeah, that's a much more refined look than Plasti Dip can give.

Where did you get yours done ? I'm having a hard time looking for "CF vinyl wrap service Santa Barbara".

Thanks guys, I appreciate the tips.

In the end, I'm thinking - I really LOVE the OEM CF spoiler, LOL. I think I'll just get that. It might be a worthwhile expenditure of $700, after all.

But, that leaves the wheels - I was actually thinking of adding a glossifier coat to the Matte Black finish, so I assume it would look glossy ... I agree that glossy finishes look better. I might get it professionally done this time.

For the wheels, if not Plasti dip, what are my (better looking) alternatives ? Are they removable like Plasti dip ?

You can get aftermarket CF for around $200-400

Oem should be around $500 + install but if you order with the car then expect to pay $700ish

OEM CF spoiler is $410 at Sun Motors. Brian Keller over there is great to work with and will get you your parts quickly with free shipping.

I got all the wrapping on my car done at ********** in Ontario, CA. They do great work. In addition to the mirror caps, I had the chrome trim around the windows done in a satin black (they're chrome on the Sport Line) and the area below the rear bumper in the same CF vinyl as the mirrors.
