People still happy with the car after a few weeks/months?

Curious if anyone has any longer term thoughts? Battery power not enough? Tiny trunk a problem etc?

4 months now and still very happy about the car.
The battery range has been adjusted to 21km (13mls) after charging so it's ok but nothing special.
Tiny trunk... I don't carry a lot of stuff with me in this car and you can fit quite a lot on the backseat so no problems for me there .

Everything still works like it should and the only things I can think of that annoy me are the I-drive that sometimes just refuses to connect over bluetooth with my iPhone 6 and the internal 3G connection that sometimes takes quite some time to connect (weather info, etc.).
It also seems that the electric engine 'whines' a bit more than a few months ago but this might be due to the colder temperatures.

9 weeks, 1000+ miles and loving it.

Only 3 people during that time have asked me about the car. Which is fine with me. I'm not in it for the publicity or public approval. I'm in it to drive the car of the future now.

A little over 4k miles. I'd drive it more but the weather isn't cooperating. Might get to this weekend. Still loving it. Took a trip to the beach for 10 days and the backseat was fine for our two large duffle bags.

I am now 3 months in with about 3200 miles. I am driving this every day including winter. I finally got Blizzak LM-32 tires on Style 444 rims and honestly, even before I put the winter rubber on, the car was fantastic. This is really a great year rounder ride.

6 weeks in 1200 miles - a few minor design irritants coming to light

firstly , should say that I love the i8 and the drive - truly exceptional. I don't particularly care for the heads turning and being photographed by people driving way too close, but it shows the level of interest in the car in London (Uk).

Problem 1 is the wide grill on the bonnet/hood. I stupidly rested the washer fluid cap on the bonnet and yes it fell straight in through the grill where it fell into the fan. Wasted 3 hours driving to service centre (without the fan on) then having to wait for i service specialists to be availabel to lift the bonnet/hood and rescue the cap.

Seems to me there should be a mesh to stop items falling into hood/bonnet (shouldnt affect airflow that adversely) - otherwise if you were to park under a tree twigs leaves etc could get sucked in.

Problem 2 is that the wondows dont receded fully into the door. As I use a car park everyday you have this awkward 1cm of glass sticking up that gets in the way.

I suppose the more significant issues are the legroom in the back and size of the boot but I think most people know that that's what they are buying into. Driver could do with another compartment in the front of the car to keep things in

I cannot fault the driving experience in any way. Yes it would be nice to get more out of the electric charge but am still getting over 40mpg which is fantastic compared to my previous 550M and 650 cars.

What about the swing of the doors? Never had problems in parking lots?

no problem yet

the swing is about as wide as a normal door with the obvious minus that you cannot squeeze out and open the door less wide.

I do park to the left side of my bay and have adjusted parking position for passengers etc

Overall view after 4 months

Agree not much luggage space, lack of battery range when cold. I'm averaging 50.1 mpg after 1700 miles of mixed driving. I drive to work and back home(around 11 miles) in electric mode. I find the bmw wall charger very quick, around 90 minutes for a full charge.drove through to Edinburgh last week, a round trip of 100 miles, in Eco pro mode, this brought consumption down slightly to 48.7 mpg. I had the cruise on at 74 mph for most of the journey.i find the constant photography a little overwhelming, but I suppose if you have a car like this you're no shrinking violet. I'm still loving every minute.

Is this comparable to a Porsche 911? Anyone get a folded stroller in the boot. Will 2 kids be ok in the rear with the bmw children seats, anyone have pics? I am a little nervous, as I had only one small child when I had the 911 and she was in the front now they both have to fit in the back. I didnt find a single stroller that would fit the 911 boot, but the i8 boot seemed longer.

kip -- the boot/trunk is tiny. You will not get a folded stroller in there. The back seat may be appropriate for children in car seats, but you can't carry anything else unless it's in the front seat (in which case no one to help with the kids). The back seat is basically a joke.

I just measured the trunk/boot. At its widest it is 32 inches wide, but it narrows fast on both sides. The depth is 12 inches. The height of the trunk is around 11 inches.

I think you measured the actual box in the back?

What I meant was that I was hoping it would fit under the window lengthwise with Folded Dimensions: 31" (L) x 24" (W) x 9.75" (H).

It didnt fit in the 991, just, but based on pics I was hoping it would

What I mean is placing it on top like in this pic. The wheels would go in the actual locker or front passenger legspace. I am maybe too optimistic?

In any case thanks for your help!!!

This is what I hope would fit (THE WHEELS COME OF):

The "trunk" is about the size of the "carry-on size" example at an airport ticket counter. I've got what I consider a reasonably sized rolling carry-on (not those suitcases people try to pass off as carry-ons) and it fits the space fine. A stroller that sufficiently compacted would probably fit. Right off the top of my head it's something like 24" wide, 24" deep, 12" long

Kip - I've taken a look at my boot/trunk with your comments in mind. It's sure possible for a folded child carrier with the wheels off to fit. It's going to depend on the carrier, of course, and how it folds. And that it fits well enough so that it doesn't break the glass when the trunk lid is slammed.
