Anybody beat a speeding ticket in MA?

If yes, how did you do it?, any lawyer you can refer?

Don't want to count on the officer not showing up on appeal, that does not instill confidence

I've only had to use this once ... as I cross my fingers ... it ended up being a referral to a lawyer local to the court I had to attend (out West on the Pike). The ticket was thrown out. Good luck.

Thanks, I went to this site, they seem to have a high success rate but the rates start at $1500. I would gladly fork it over, but there is no guarantee for success. I wouldn't mind risking $500-750 or so, but $1500 is over the top, and if I don't win I have to pay a $200 fine plus 6 years of increased premiums which would total about $2500.

By law I don't think they can guarentee success. Try to get a repair order showing your speedometer was inaccurate. Try to postpone it as long as you can...

I did. I took a 40 in a 30mph (Chap90 sec 17 violation) case to court myself and won. Obviously the magistrate didn't let me slide because that's against their job (generate as much revenue for sending cases to the judge - $20/case or something like that).

I say, do your research, structure your questions and go at it yourself. At worst you lose and lose a few hours of work time but it is your right to appeal. (so a cop told me a while ago)

Don't bother with a lawyer unless it's a criminal citation and/or accident was involved.

I found this site a while ago and I joined. Can you described the specific technicality that won the day?

I have a 90/17 charge also (70 in a 50). I am trying to find out if the posted sign is illegal through mass highway. I know I was not tracked for 1/4 mile, so I am still confused why I wasn't charged with 90/18 since the limit is posted and he got me on radar (speed trap). It seems 90/17 has some wiggle room.

$1500 for working on a speeding ticket is pretty steep. Are there any other similar attorney groups that are less expensive?

i went to court wearing a suit, pleaded my case and won both times in court. Be honest and depending on your prior record they may let you go.

That's not a good bet anymore anyways. They assign one cop, and have him read testimony for all the tickets for that session.
