i8 - hard tyres or hard suspension ?

took delivery of our i8 12th December 2014, covered 1000 miles now, and its a great bit of kit. However, the ride, if driven on anything other than a perfect road, is, I have to say disappointing.
I have a M4 as well as X5 M50d - both of these are significantly more comfortable on all road surfaces.
Not sure if I am being unreasonable in my expectations of the ride of the i8, but all the reviews rave above it being a grand tourer - I would, for sure, take my M4 on any journey more than a couple hundred miles.

Weird. My i8 has BY FAR the most comfortable ride of any of my cars...except in Sport mode where it gets much rougher. In any other mode it's a pleasure. 4000 miles so far.

worth me getting it checked out with my dealer then - thanks for feedback - ours is very hard, now you mention SPORT mode, the ride doesn't actually change in SPORT mode compared to COMFORT - that may be the issues

Ride quality

Yes, have your dealer check everything. It's not completely unknown for a dealership PDI Tech to forget to remove suspension shipping blocks, etc. I had it happen on an Aston Martin once and I've spoken to a few other owners who experienced such an oversight. Also have him check your suspension control system.

Hopefully they can get it right and comfortable for you. Good luck.

I agree with above posters, my other cars are M and definitely have rougher rides than the i8.

One last thing

Although probably more minor, check your tire pressure. Manufacturers often air up tires for shipping, far above stated operating pressures. Again, the PDI process is supposed to recheck and adjust this before delivery. I once found all four tires aired up to around 80 lbs! Not good for a smooth ride.
