The oil cooler in the E90 (335i anyway) is mounted in front of the front passenger wheel well. If you have it you will see louvers there. Also, if you have one then you should see two hoses coming out of your oil filter housing to a cooler.
My guess is you are looking at something else. |

That's probably the transmission fluid cooler integrated with the radiator. Or, as previously stated a cooler/condenser for the air conditioning system.
American N52 based sedans are referred to as hot climate cars. They received larger radiators, and fans compared to european (cool climate) but no heat exchangers. X3s & X5 N52s (Im not sure about the 5 series) received an integrated heat exchanger. European versions get heat exchangers across the fleet. Why do you need an oil cooler?
