BMWNotifier email notification iOS jailbreak tweak
I'm currently laid up with a broken femur, so can't get to my car. But I noticed this iOS jailbreak tweak to enable email notifications on iDrive. Can anyone test this out and see if it works?

I believe you need Enhanced Bluetooth (6NS).
If you already get TXT messages displayed/read, then this JB tweak will (re)enable new Email messages on iPhone to display on iDrive as it used to. |

...unfortunately not
there aren't any settings for BMWNotifier. I simply installed, rebooted my iPhone, and it just worked! Maybe try repairing the bluetooth connection on phone/iDrive? I did notice that email notifications come up on iDrive even if the phone is unlocked--something TXT msgs don't do. And as before, notifications will only show up on iDrive if they are **new messages that arrive while connected to the car** prior unread txts or emails won't show up. Hope this helps... |

Since iOS 7, Apple changed how it handled Bluetooth Message Access Protocol-the standard that sends notifications to iDrive.
Only notifications flagged by iOS as "important" were sent through BTMAP. By default txt messages were "important" but for some reason email notification no longer were. (Note, I'm talking about OS level stuff--not anything users had control of.) My guess is this tweak forces email notifications to be flagged as "important" (rightfully so!). Either way I'm super glad this is working for us again! The "settings" the big boss description is referring to, is the awkward work around where if you toggle email notifications to different settings everytime before you connect to the car it would for some reason show up on iDrive for that session. My impression is that this is an iOS bug, that worked in our favour. Last edited by 35mmSummicron; 01-08-2015 at 02:09 AM.. |

Hey you guys that have jail broken...Can I just take the OTA iOS 8.2 update, or do I need to un-jailbreak first? And has TaiG updated their tool so I can re-jailbreak after the 8.2 update?

Unfortunately, I don't plan to release and maintain two versions of the tweak anymore. Currently I'm working on a new tweak that should be universal and support all vehicles that support iMessage/SMS forwarding (MINI, Benz, Ford ...) I have a working prototype (unfortunately tested only on BMW NBT) and I hope it will be released soon. |
