New owner of 2011 335d M-Sport - looking for mods, tips, etc.!

Alright everyone, I am the proud new owner of a 2011 M-Sport 335D! I've read through the forums for hours, but thought I would ask anyway. As I am a new owner to the car and new to BMW in general (always admired but couldn't afford in the past!), I am looking for advice. Mainly I'm curious what mods I can do without affecting my warranty!

-Came with a JBD, but that is easy enough to remove when taking in to the dealer.

-The interior has been re-done with an M3 interior (center console, seats, floor mats, door sills, etc.) and it has an M3 spoiler on the back as well.

I'm specifically interested in increasing gas mileage and or increasing power without negatively affecting mpg's.

I would appreciate any advice you guys have on owning a 335d, thanks!

JBD is meh. Talk to TorqueAddict. He'll set you straight

GreekBoy is all stock so don't talk to him about mods. We don't think he drives the car either.

Don't listen to these crazy Canucks.

If you don't want to void you're warranty then the options are limited.

- catch can - preventative
- water/meth - power and preventative but need to reverse it when going to the dealer.
- jbd - power but take it off before going to the dealer.

Those pretty much your only options till the warranty is up.

Also pm PuertoRicanD he's been on the forums since day one a true pioneer.

Keep in mind the country is currently using winter diesel fuel blends. Mileage usually falls 5 to 10 percent as a result of lower btu winter diesel fuel and colder denser air which hurts aerodynamics and hurts warm up times. Believe I read winter diesel is in effect 11/15 through 4/15 but I could be off on that.

Thanks for the comments. I definitely want to try the EGR delete but I have no mechanical chops whatsoever unfortunately.

-Definitely interested in learning more about the benefits of the catch can

-Also interested in the benefits of the water/meth

Meth does 2 things. Primary benefit is evaporative cooling of intake air. I've heard guys here say they looked at data and saw charge air temps 25F cooler than ambient air temp. This increases power. 2nd benefit is it cleans your intake runners and intake ports of head.

Si-335d What was the single best mod you did? I see you have the Wagner intercooler. Did you see mpg gains with this?

Easy, same as any other diesel out there. Many DIY threads out there, most here including myself set to come on at 17psi, max at 25,(20 for me) with a 625ml nozzle. Just t make sure to tap charge pipe before air temp sensor.
If you want mpg's as well, a 2 stage set up would be even better, and more power as you could run a larger nozzle at a slightly higher boost for the second stage. I plan to do this this summer

Hi Where did you get the meth kit? Is it possible to run the jr tune(Egr, DPF and SCR delete) with the meth?

Yes, you can run with or without any tune with a diesel.
There are many benefits to meth other than the power gains, it keeps the intake clean. I am currently using a devils own kit, the most important part,(other than the controller) is the pump, get a high psi,(200psi+) which will give you better atomization. Cooling mist also has some good kits, I especially like that they have a flow meter so you can monitor this from a gauge mounted in the car.
Once you have your tune, if you add meth you will be maxed out on your transmission as far as how much hp/tq it can handle.
At that point your next mod will need to be a transmission build, then you can upgrade turbos,(assuming you have already installed locking rear diff) at which point you will have a monster under the hood

Thanks to gtp900 for answering runbyu1's question. I have no direct meth kit experience. It's on the to do list but trying to get alphabet deletes done correctly.

What is the upkeep on the meth kits like? How expensive on a monthly basis?

Thanks for the welcome. I think the guy I bought it from was a member here as he referenced the site multiple times. Good to have a twin!
