watching videos from usb storage device

I purchased an "unlock" service from bimmer guru, this will allow video from a dvd and an usb memory stick be displayed while the vehicle is in motion. But it requires a reboot of idrive. On other bmws, you only had to hold the volume button down until it reboots, bit that doesn't work on my M4. Anybody know how to reboot idrive on the M4? it's not in the manual

Works great. allows dvd and videos thru usb to play while in motion.

http://www.bimmerguru.com/

my previous cars with idrive, only allowed dvds to play in motion, but the newer ones now have a usb option.

install takes 5 mins

No mkv files?

And why would anyone pay that much when you can code this?

Will have to check.

MP4 works fine, I typically like to include a USB drive with coding to give our customers leaving the shop something to try out immediately - as well as learn about the various features on their M in detail.

Over 150+ tutorials from BMW's YouTube site as well as M-based commercials and track testing. It's the details that count.

Smile Works om my M4

Got the software in an email after having sent my VIN# to Bimmerguru. Put it on a clean BMW USB stick and put it in the car. Approx. 30s sec, then a 15s press on the volume adjustment knob. Piece of cake!

Is there a reason you spent more on The Guru thing vs. coding the car?

I am new to this coding and to BMW. I have an M4 on order and passing the time reading post on here...can someone explain to me, in general terms, what one can do with coding?

Am I reading two different options on this thread? Code it or "buy" some software to modify electronics?

Sorry for being ignorant

I have a remote coding guy I've used for few years now pm if your interested, he sells you cable for 39 then 100 for his coding routine he does over IP address of laptop, prior to that you download all software to your laptop for remote coding process.

I personally never looked into "coding" but as a techie, it's peaked my interest. I've done this service a few times and for 200 it didn't bother me. I liked having an easy way to reset before service trips and turning it back on after service. The setup is also just a few mins
