Help needed for glass scratch

Hey guys,
Cleaning my windshield on the inside, I accidentally scratched my windshield with my watch.
I'm concerned because the scratch is located just a couple of inches over the HUD area, so I don't really know if that glass has a special coating on the inside or is it just a normal windshield glass?
My main concern is if taking the car to be polished will make it worse?
Does anyone knows anything about this windshields with HUD?
Any tip will be appreciated

Thanks, I'm taking my car to a car restorer who has a lot of experience treating scratched glass and I'm confident he will have the product and the skills to do it, this people are used to be very careful since usually they work with cars that have no spare parts anymore, thankfully the scratch is not too bad and it is not deep so I'm positive and will post my results after the job is done.

Will someone please look for me what make the windshield glass is on the F80/F82 ?
The side and rear glass aswell if possible please

Its usually on the lower edge of the drivers side (Passenger side on RHD cars) when viewed from outside the car.
Should be Pilkington or Sain Gobain or similar.

Side glass has it on the bottom right hand side of the glass pane usually.

Thanks

I have tried Invisible Glass by Stoner. It works for a couple of days. Any rain though eliminates the repellant.

Thanks, I'm waiting for a guy that has more than 30 years of experience to come to my office later today and check the damage himself.

If the problem is worst than expected, new windshield will be my only choice, hopefully not, but I'm very concerned about damaging other stuff like my leather dashboard trying to remove a scratch from the glass....there is not much space to work so I'm crossing my fingers that this expert will do a good job

Isn't invisible glass just a cleaner, like windex?

Take your fingernail and rub it on the window perpendicular to the scratch. If your nail catches the class noticeably then its too deep to buff out.

Even if it doesn't you're very likely to make an "over" or "under polished" section by trying to buff the glass. I somehow scratched the SHIT out of my glass taking off the "efficient dynamics" sticker from the 3rd quarter panel window on my 650. The glass expert told me that no one would ever notice it but him and me, and that if it REALLY REALLY bothers me that I should just smash the glass and take a no deductable glass coverage claim from my insurance. I didn't bother. . .

You'll forget about it in time. Can you take a picture of it? If "its too small/faint to see in a picture" you should probably just forget about it and move on. I know its the first little ding/dent/scratch on your new baby, but trust me when I say that more will follow

Moral of the story: quartz is way harder then autoglass. . . Careful cleaning with your watch!

Sorry, I thought you were referring to bug and dirt maintenance. Not an expert on glass repair.

The only product on the market that I would use is this:

http://www.carpro-us.com/ceriglass-g...cleaner-150ml/

You will need a spray bottle with water in it and a Rayon pad for your Dual Action Polisher.

Like others have said, if the scratch is deep enough to feel with your nail, you probably won't get it out.

Polishing glass is very time intensive. To get a scratch out, it would probably take about 45 minutes of polishing. That's why you need the water to keep the polish wet.

Got mine fixed last Monday, took him 3.5 hrs of pure hand work, he used 3 different type of products and also specialty pads in order to do the job the right way.
I will say the scratch is gone 98%, if I look for it, I will find a very almost invisible trace, it was a good job after all, also the guy was very careful protecting the whole interior, mostly the leather dashboard
