Possible to check power steering fluid in 2014?
I've been hearing a slight whine in my engine at idle and low rpms....even with the car in park. Don't really hear it while driving over 15mph. Think maybe it's normal, but not sure. The whine is low pitched, not high pitched like a turbo. I've read articles that said check power steering fluid. Is this possible in the 2014s? Can't find one article for anything newer than a 2013. thanks

All F30s have electronically assisted steering... so there shouldn't be any power steering fluid necessary right?

Yeah, no power steering fluid, says so on the tech docs.

It depends on the 'whine'. There are some articles here about a whine around 2000 RPM that's related to some tubes in the engine. Also, does the whine appear with the AC on or off? I've read some articles that it could be a culprit. Regardless, this sub forum might not be the right one to search for.
Good luck. |

Resurrecting this post! My car is developing a whine that is very present. It now sounds like a supercharged car at high rpm. Could it be a belt that needs changing or is it the power steering culprit everyone was talking about?
Thanks

Wild guess, check your coolant level.
