fast cars, energy drinks, and crappy cup holders don't mix!!! any ideas?

Ok long story short, I had a energy drink in the cup holder, (a tall skinny one), and I mashed the gas. It didn't end well for my heater controls. Everything works fine, but the buttons stick now. Alot... Like, if I select "floor", I have to push it hard, and it takes between 30 seconds and 3 minutes for the button to pop back out. Anyone have any ideas how I could clean up this mess? SMH.. thanks..

You use the cupholders??? I see you like to live dangerously.

I would recommend looking up a video for removing the center console (replacing head unit) and just clean everything off with some cleaning solution (white vinegar, isopropol alcohol, etc)

If you are afraid to take anything apart just use a toothbrush and alcohol.

Well, did you know that some cartoon characters shouldn't ever be given energy drinks?

I would go light on fluids, and alcohol could bleach out some color. A steam unit might be a better choice, if you can find access to one.

Great idea!! I just so happen to have one of those small steam jet things too!! I'll give it a try. If it works out might be worthy of a diy.

Garage List
2001 BMW 540i/6  [8.17]
1994 530i  [9.00]
2007 335i Coupe  [8.37]
That's why I only bring the 8.3oz cans in the E92, they fit perfectly in the cupholders, whereas the bigger cans always felt like they would fall out. Stean would probably work pretty well, combined with some good interior cleaner like 1Z cockpit premium.

Yeah, I'm a professional energy drink drinker. There's really no happy medium with Red Bull. The 16 and 24oz cans fit best as far as width but if they're more than half full, they are dangerously top heavy.
Ok, I admit it, this situation has occurred at least 3 times. It really sucks. It combines 2 things that I just can't quit, because I can't stay out of the gas, and I can't quit with the Red Bull... smh...

I always use the passenger side cup holder, little inconvenient but if something spills it's just going on the floor mat mostly.

Drink water, problem solved, plus all those energy drinks are garbage anyway. If you are dragging ass thorough the day it usually means you are not getting enough sleep (or quality sleep), your nutrition sucks, and or you are out of shape.

Ouch, I here you on the spillage. I use to have a C140 Mercedes Benz CL500 coupe with the worst cup holders ever! Any corner taken would result in a soda being tipped to one side or the other, and eventually toppling over and hitting the seats with soda, water, or whatever else was held at the time. The BMW ones are far superior and at least they don't spill directly on you if you stop hard. The vents should be fine, just get those buttons cleaned with some All purpose cleaner and they should be good.

By something with caps...I always buy drinks with caps...
If it is nothing greasy you can just clean with wet wipe.
