Port installed steering wheel

I had the M Performance steering wheel port installed. It just occurred to me I didn't receive the stock wheel. Should I have been given the wheel I paid to replace? Just thinking I paid the same price I would have paid if I purchased the M Perf wheel post delivery, and in that scenario, I'd have the original as well.

Just wondering, thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, you don't get to keep parts they remove at the port.

If you had purchased on your own and installed it that's a different story. But the car as you got is what you specced out so anything they removed was never part of your build. It just happens that this was port installed rather than factory installed.

This is a big reason why I got parts-only for my order.

I priced the black kidney grilles from my parts guy at the local dealership at $63.75 apiece, $127.50 total. They're $230 in the Build your Own configurator, not sure if that includes labor for port install, but I figure I can put them on myself (there are some great install threads on this). I will still own the more Sport line original grilles and I'm sure I can sell them for way more than the $127.50 I'm paying for the black ones seeing as they're the more aggressive looking OEM grilles that come with the Sport line. I think you're much better off buying the parts and having them installed later or doing it yourself.

Yea they seem to charge about 1 hr labor to do the grill installs so at $100/hr that would be the difference in price.

I also believe that if you are leasing the car, port installed options can be residualized while dealer installed parts can't be. I didn't lease the car so someone else would have to verify that, but that would be a reason to do the options at the port or you have a lease, your not paying for the "full" price of the parts.
