Is it safe to run jb4 on map 2 with DP on m235i?
Hey guys I'm getting the JB4 with Ewg and ff harness install on my m235i tomorrow. Do you guys think it safe to switch to map 2 occasionally with Dp? But I Will spend most of the time driving with the jb4 off. So far different workshop give me different opinions. What do you guys think is the long term impact on the car running map2 without Dp?
On my old 2010 135i n54 I been run running map 2 without dp for more than a year with out any issues until recently the car keep jumping into limp mode on map2 , but on map 1 it's ok.

More boost of map2 will mean more heat. With std DP it means your exhaust gas temperature (EGT) will go too high likely to trigger codes / limp mode.
If you want to get the most out of yr JB4 with EWG/FF harnesses, fit either decat or sport cat DP. Even with stock exhaust it'll keep EGT in check and sound much better too ! |

Why not just follow the directions of the tuner?? You can get a catless DP for $250 from Shifteck...
The recommendations are there for a reason from Burger. |
