Maintenance
So here's my question, I have a 2009 e92 335i and I got a message on the dash saying I need a break fluid change. Should I go to the dealership to have this done? Or should I go to an independent shop? Also, for future work, should I go to the dealership or an independent shop?
Thanks! |

You can go anywhere you feel confortable. Dealership is typically 2x as expensive, you get better "service" with coffee, free loaner, being called "sir", but not much else. There are very little things a indep german specialist cannot do just as good if not better than the dealer.

Are you at all DIY? You can get a power bleeder for around $45 that will last you a lifetime, works on all German cars, and is pretty much dummy proof for bleeding brake lines. It takes about 30 mins to bleed all four lines and should be done every 2 years.

I never had good experiences at any bmw dealership. Indy shops are great, but you have to find a good one. I found 3 in my area and took the car for oil changes to each one and picked the one that suited me best. Then, I bought a manual and started learning to DIY. Best way to, in my opinion. Fun and educational!
