I had the exact problem like yours when I picked up my F36, it seems like the dealer forgot to reset the service light and you have to go back to the dealership to get it reseted, the system won't let you reset the light yourselves in this case. BTW, I don't have the Vehicle inspection and Emission inspection in the IDrive service check, please double check with your dealer to see if they forgot to do the whole PDI thing.

I think those are Cali things. They're very anal about emissions.

hold down the trip odometer reset for ~10-15sec. you should get a series of menus on the dash that allow you to reset the service required light for oil, brakes, etc. momentarily depress the trip odometer button to step through the menu.

Is this advisable to do or should I just let the dealership reset it?

You can actually find plenty of videos to tell you how to reset service light through your instrument cluster on youtube. However, I was not able to use this method to turn off the light in my case, it just won't let you do it. Had to go back to my local dealership to get it reprogrammed and it took me about 2 hours

Hey guys,

Any help on how to reset oil service. For some reason after the last oil change i couldn't reset the mileage through the cluster

Every time i try to reset i get an error message "reset unsuccessful"
Now its showing "-2000 kMs"

I have a retrofitted NBT so i dont want to go for BMW service as they will say the car needs reprogramming. The guy who retrofitted my NBT said i can use some tools such as ISTA or ISPI NEXT to reset the oil interval

Any feedback will be appreciated

Cheers
