3 more options

About a week ago, I sat down with my dealer to custom build a 435i. Happily it's in production and if all goes well I should be getting it around Thanksgiving. Over this past week, I was thinking of what options I would of liked to have on the car that BMW doesn't offer. Here are my choices...

1) LED tail and turn signals
2) Alcantara seats
3) Remote start

I'm curious to see what your choices would be.

remote start doesn't exist for our vehicles. So you can nix that one.

The others are your own personal preference

LED tails will very likely happen for MY16 as part of LCI.

Alcantara seats would be great. For some reason BMWNA doesn't offer them. Maybe one day...

Remote start seems to not be on BMW's radar screen. Possibly for safety reasons as accidental starting while in a closed garage can be deadly. There's obvious workarounds to this like make remote start not operate for more than 5 minutes without someone sitting in drivers seat....or add a CO sensor to car and turn off if parked and CO level increases....

Yep - just seems odd to see an E90 in the rearview mirror in the turn lane with LEDs!

Those came on the LCI E90, so most likely also on the F30's LCI.

Remote start doesn't exist because it's wasting fuel. In Europe remote start is seen as a waste of petrol.

We don't get 3, I would not get 1 because I love the smell and feel of Leather. No 1 would only get turn signals, and possibly fogs or headlights.

What do non-LED tail lights look like on a 435?
Mine is Canadian spec 435 GC so maybe LED tails are standard?

I was wondering the same thing ... I'm not sure they are LED. Are they?

The lights that stay on are LED but the brake lights and turn signals are not.

Yeah, us lazy Americans would hit the button and the system would run for 15 minutes.

It is kinda a neat feature if you are smart enough to use it. I had it on my 08 Super Bee. Was cool to hit the button in a parking lot when you were getting close and have it roar to life. Startled a few people on occasion. LOL

They just need to limit the system to a 2 minute run time and deactivate it after 2 cycles if the car hasn't been driven. That way people couldn't just sit there and hit the button over and over.

On the flip side, they could just put it in and realize people should be free to be as dumb as they want. LOL

1) M Sport suspension available on xDrive models
2)Having that cut-out section under the speedometer on the extended instrument cluster actually do something
3)LED Tails
4)An "ALL" button on the climate control

there are many others but these were the first to come to mind...

Would love to have

- ventilated seats, summer in Australia is a bitch

- front camera, would save my splitter from a few scrapes. If they could also make it a dash cam that would be awesome

Big time, especially with dark leather seats in the summer, tints only go so far.

Supposedly (according to my dealer here in the frigid north) auto start IS being worked on by BMW and may be retrofit-able. I wouldn't put a lot of faith in it at this point...

Not having remote start is pretty disappointing. Car sits in garage, start up in morning, heats up pretty fast, great. Car sits outside in zero degree F temps or lower and gets cold soaked all day, it means the WORLD being able to start it up and run it for a little while. Cars sometimes get so cold you can barely stand to sit in the seat, let along grip the steering wheel, and any breathing can frost/fog windows fast. Then there's the windows that you have to defrost before you can go anyways.

Living in a true cold-weather environment, it's very very useful. Heated seats are a poor substitute.

There are documents supporting that just idling the car is not good for it. Search around for them. VW specifically says in their owner's manual to not idle their cars. Probably a good reason why most european and luxury automakers don't have remote start, and they're pretty much a product of Honda, Toyota, and all of the domestic brands.

I think there are also laws in Germany outlawing idling. So that might be why all the German cars do not offer it. I do the remote ventilation when I am 10 minutes from car on the train ride home from work. Works quite well getting the air moving on a 90 degree Florida summer day...

I do really wish for cooled seats though! I had it on my 2010 Nissan Maxima and 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee - they were AMAZING!
