M2 Sedan / Gran Coupe
What's the chance of an M2 sedan or Grand coupe?
I need a four door car and would rather a m2 than the m3 do to the size and weight. |

Ohh, I doubt it. From what I know, the 2 series is supposed to be a rwd, 2 door counterpart to the upcoming 1er sedan on BMWs new fwd platform (sort of how the 6er is the sporty 2 door version of the 5er).

If you are talking about the current one, chance are very slim, but possible nonetheless. |

A 2 series sedan is impossible according to the new BMW model identities. Odd numbers reserved for sedans and even numbers assigned to coupes. As for GT, I think it'd be to small to accommodate whatever those hideous things do.

So what about the 6er GranCoupé, 4er GranCoupé and 2er ActiverTourer, and 2er GranTourer?

But no there won't be a M2 sedan. If you want 4 doors step up to the M3. If they released a gran coupe they would of by now not as an M2 unfortunately.

I, for one, hope not.
But if they perceive a solid market for it, they will make it, most likely in GC form (which really is a sedan, no matter what new marketing gimmick names they want to call it). |

Would love the side profile of the Gran Coupe but would 'settle' for the sedan in the looks department. Four doors would be ideal since it is a PITA to access the center portion of a coupe to place/remove cargo.

I really don't get why folks want a 4 door 2 series. The rear leg room would not change, it may even be less than the coupe! May as well get the three series. If you like the size of the 2er, then you must only have little folks getting in the back and it really is not that hard to pull the seat forward and let them in. Lord knows I can remember doing that allot back in the 70s as a kid when coupes were very common.

The main reason *many* buyers today want something like an M2 sedan is that the F30/80 3-series is a huge car with a wheelbase longer than the E23 7-series, width more than the E23, etc. My wife has zero interest in an E23, E39-sized car. Audi is cleaning up with the new A3 sales in the small sedan segment. BMW was apparently thinking price was the key, but it's not. The A3 didn't steal a thing from the A4 sales if you compare year over year numbers as the A4 was strong too. Hence Audi has tapped the pulse of the marketplace that simply is fed up with a "series" car getting larger and larger such that now the smallest BMW sedan is the size of the E23 7-series and E39 5-series.
BMW knows this and is late to the game. In the meantime, Audi and Merc are going to clean house in this size sedan market segment.

The argument re being too small as a sedan is rubbish, the Merc and audi small sedans are selling as I said. |

I know chances are very good that there will be a 2 series Gran Coupe, but I haven't heard anything about an M2 GC. God I hope they make it, I'll order one the moment it's announced and finally get a European Delivery.
