Nail Polish On My Brand New M - HELP!
So my wife was going for a ride in my new F80 for the very first time and things didn't go so well. Don't even know how this happened, but my wife went to open the door on my car and her red nail polish left a 2" mark on my YMB paint. Her nails were totally dry, but I can't rub away the nail polish at all and even using my finger nail to scrape at it does nothing. What's odd is she always wears nail polish and I've never seen this happen to any of our cars, ever. How can I safely and effectively remove this nail polish from my brand new car???
Thanks in advance for the replies! |

After you get it off, you should put clear protection film behind the door handles. This not only helps against the nail polish, but prevents normal paint scratches over time from finger nails.

Try 3m adhesive remover. Apply some to a microfiber towel and set it on the spot for 10 seconds. If it transfers, you should be good. It may have penetrated the clear coat. If it did, you may need to have paint correction or wet sanding.

Thanks for all the relies. I didn't try nail polisher removed because I read that the acetone in it will damage the clear coat. I wound up getting some goo gone and that took about 95% of it off. Will try the clay bar for the rest.
